    X850XT PE problems

I got an X850XT PE that artifacts like crazy in Atitool (yellow dots). I even underclocked it to 470 on the core and it still does it. However, all benchmarks work well and I can play NBA Live 2005 just fine for hours. What gives?

whoah.. that is some crazy stuff.

You know... I can't seem to complete Aquamark either. At one point it just gets a black screen. Weird...

    Hi,

Definatly a bug with aquamark and X850 XT

I dont have any difficulties passing 01,03 05 and playing hours of H-L 2 and counter-strike.

When aquamark is finished testing I get an error and no score and the program just exits.

    Hopefully a patch somewhere.

    Hi,

    I am getting about 6900 in 05, 14700 in 03 and 30000 in 01.

It's not that ATI wont sell them, its just that there not really available at the moment. There all being sent to OEM's like dell.

    I score a hair over 31K stock with my X850XT-PE and FX-55. I think I was at 29K with the FX-53.

I'll have to try AM3 on my card, as I haven't done it yet. I've heard of guys running it, but I'll have to check into it.

FX55 and X800XT both at stock speeds make 31,5K (in my system)

I expect X850XT make some more, or not?

got a stupid question (shouldn't hijack this thread, I know) but :

Is it wiser to get the X850XT (Connect3D) above the X800XT (Sapphire)?
I found 2 stores which have both in stock. Price difference is 30€, but I'm not sure if the 850 would be the right choice right now.
    Again, sorry for asking.

Ummm...the X850XT has better yields on air more commonly than X800XT PEs.

OH wait...did you mean the X800XT Non-PEs ?? I am hearing those are getting REALLY bad yields

But yeah those with X850XTs (Ahem, wake up guys) will be able to assist you better.

    Again, sorry for asking.
Uh oh. If Jupiler, with 2,331 posts has to apologize for interrupting the thread, I imagine I need to kneel and beg to SO many thread-starters LOL I cant even count them all. Seriously, as long as you're on topic, I think you're fine. The other end is ofcourse Karnivore sending you a pm because you're steering away from the topic too much

wow, back in the days of my ol 9600XT, it went bad for no apparent reason, and seemed to have lost its dx9 support, because it looked all screwed up in dx9 games, but not older ones with dx8.anyway, i RMA'd it, and they sent it back to me almost just like yours, instead of messing with it, i RMA'd it again, (3times in the end b4 it was right)

hello all , i'd buy an X850XT non PE POWERCOLOR , this thing can bench 2K1 at 605/580 stock Volts, and cooling, without artefact , but bad thing is the ram artefacts a lot more to push a little more than 585 for the ram :/

Very bad thing : i'm totally disapointed , i've a lack of 2K between my old Vivo@XTPE , i just got 28K with F55@53 XPsp2 850XT@520/540 , high perf only and A64Tweak , and very strange thing 27K with my winnie (normally the difference is about 2K5 even more) .

i've tried under 2K 8.1 and XPSP2 and got the same score

    Really,really strange....

I can't oc the card under 2K none tweaker work :/

    I'll come back ...

I was getting serious artifact issues in all games(most new games) and tried things like underclocking the memory, which seems to be the primary issue. But I seemed to have solved my issue. The problem seemed to be the fan speed. Default was only 4% in idle and it rarely got any faster, temperature rised to about 80 degrees celsius. That's too hot! With ATITool I modified the fan speed to go higher at certain temperatures. I have it running at about 65% while gaming which gets it to around 70 degrees real fast, but at 65% fan speed it won't get higher. No artifacts. Leave it slow when temperature is below 60 degrees and you shouldn't notice it, and when you are gaming you won't notice it either, so sound isn't much of an issue really. If you push the fan speed higher, you can probably even overclock the card quite a bit. Overdrive supposedly pushes it pretty hard, but I'd stay away from that and just use ATITool instead.

When I first started looking to see if other people had artifacts issues I found an article that showed it was overdrive that was giving them artifacts in all their games. I checked though and overdrive wasn't on, and I wasn't OCing. I checked temperatures with Everest and they seemed fine. I couldn't figure out what the deal was. And I hadn't gotten any artifacts for the first couple weeks I had the card. I checked the temperature with ATITool which is where I found the temperature around the card was fine, but the GPU itself was going really hot.

Might be the card, might be the RAM on the card, might just be the case, who knows. But the memory can't take the heat and the default fan speeds aren't enough.

Hey PC Ice, did you try overclocking on 2K/DX8.1 with yours? If what mr.roadster said is true, that would suck big time.
