AquaXtreme 50Z with 5/8" OD (1/2" ID) Inlet + Outlet

Has anyone used the AquaXtreme 50Z with the 5/8" OD fittings? If so, how is the performance compared to the standard 1/2"OD fittings? I assume it would help flow, but I'd like to be sure before ordering the pump.

It will help a little bit, but it wont be noticlabe unless you do some seriously high tech testing to test temps. But hey, it wont hurt your cooling. if you got 1/2inch tubing get it. getting 1/2inch tubing over 5/8 fittings is easy as pie. Just got to have some muscle.

I dont think the 5/8 will help at all over the standard 1/2 barbed pump. I think the actual inlet and outlet inside diameters are the same for the threaded and 1/2" barbed version from what I can see.

On cooltechnia it has it listed as 5/8"OD-1/2"ID. Or do you mean the actual inlet/outlet of the pump?

    Sorry, a little confused.

From the picture I've seen the barb screws over the inlet/outlet.

So if the barb has an ID of 1/2" then surely it'd mean a straight ID of 1/2" from one barb end, to the end of the inlet/outlet???

Sorry for asking the same question again. But I'm pretty tired and I'd like to make sure before I order it and I know this is the place to ask about these sort of things.

what he was saying is that the pump itself has fittings that are 1/2inch. But i am not sure if hte pumps fittings are half inch OD or ID. I would venture a guess that they are 1/2inch ID. But i cant be certain. I say just go with the 5/8. It isnt going to hurt anything. It will also make the system less prone to leaking cuase of the tighter fit.

Yeah that seems like the best idea to be honest. Thanks for your help.

I am talking about the id of the pump housing itself. No matter what the barb size screwed on the threaded parts id will be the restriction and it sure looks to be the same id as the pump that has the buit in 1/2" barbs.

Yeah, I can see what you mean. It does look that way. A pity really.

saying the pump is a 1/2inch ID. I looked at the pics and it looks ilke the one with the NPT fittings has slightly larger intake and output sizes. Correct me if im wrong.

I actually used my tape and measured them and both ids were the same and I had the same distance between the screws that fasten the pump head also so it should be fairly accurate. I measured both ids at 1" and has just a hair over 4 1/4" between the screw centers on my 40" monitor at 800x600 res.

ROFL man.. i was about to break out my caliper and do that, but i refrained. Well if they are the same, get the prebarbed one then. It willl take up less space and one less place for leaking.
