sata raptors x 2 only no cd drives and pata controller disabled

I AM HAVING THE WEIRDEST PROBLEM

    I set the ddr to 9-2-2-2.0 @ 2.88 v
    cpu multiplier @ 10 = 2000 mhz @ 400 fsb

    set fsb to 220 @ 9 2 2 2.0 and ran memtest86 3.2
    passed no problems

    now
any fsb higher than 400 makes games and apps crash
no bsod's but just app crashing
even at 402 fsb they crash

    wtf is going on ?????????????????????????

    all temps are very low
    cpu 96 f idle 114 max @ full usage

    cpu to 1.675
    chipset to 1.7
    agp to 1.7
    cpu disconnect enabled

    no sata curruption at all

spent alot of cash on this system
    spacificly for overclocking

please some one help me PLEASE.....

    i have tried every multiplier

well, maybe try testing how much fsb can cpu handle. Lower memory frequency and lower cpu multiplier and see if you have problems then. And always update all blocks when updating bios.

Try 1.6 chipset voltage. You definately dont need 1.7 volts for 200 FSB. I managed to do 215 fully stable and 220 benchable at 1.6 volts

Leave AGP voltage at default ... you wont really gain anything by increasing it. Or at least leave it at 1.6

Sink your mosfets and some other chips on that board. Checkout Tictac site about this matter

Your timings should be 2-2-2-11 for an amd system . Better performance.

Try using a 10.5 multi and above. Will probably yield better results

You must disable APIC. And if you've installed windows with APIC enabled you must do a re-format and reinstall wilth APIC disabled

Also, check your PSU rails ... with that fine PSU you've got I think you can adjust them right? Try giving 3.4 volts for the 3.3 rail, 5.1 for the 5.0 rail and 12.2 for the 12.00 volts rail

Hope I've helped in some way

    fsb

the cpu cooler is the zalman cu????? big round copper one with 90 mm fan
    lol

    and i use artic ceramique

    also

the 420 thing did not work not stable back to 400

this is weird, I will be ordering the mosfet coolers soon but i dought that is the issue

I check the rails on the psu with a multimeter and all are fine

i just dont understand, I am guessing this motherboard is a lemon for overclocking.

will be upgrading the motherboard and cpu this summer but am un sure what to get

need some feed back from you guys please, here is what i looking into

i want a amd fx cpu not sure which one yet

which one is unlocked and gives good fsb overclocks ?

maybe nforce3 or 4 or socket 939 or abit fatality 1

    just dont know yet

what do you guys think ???????

thanks again for all the support from the OC community

    ur the bomb

I had the same problem as you... err.. I still have the same problem... but on another nForce2 Ultra400 board... The FSB refuces to be stable above ~ 210MHz or VDD > 1.6V... Even though I was able to benchmark at 250FSB @ 2.0V VDD, the system was really unstable with VDD above 1.6V and even though I cooled my mosfets and had proper cooling on the chipset, the problem remained...

Try relaxing CAS and getting those voltages up.
    You need POWER to overclock.
(Sheesh, I thought was Xtreme overclocking !)

Try 1.5 chipset ... old stories of NF7-S boards had to set the chipset voltage to 1.5 volts for 230 + FSB ...

    fsb

ok tried the 1.5 chipset setting but just made the problem worse

seems like the chipset is not getting enough voltage

what rail on psu modifies chipset voltage ?

my psu is a pc power and cooling and has adjustable rails

run ram timings of 2.5-3-3-x or 2-3-3-x. Your memory uses TCCD chips if i'm not mistaken which cannot do above 220mhz with tight timings very easily or very often..

1T will limit you also since you have 1gb ram, but I stay with 1T (CPC on) since the performance hit of 2T (CPC off) is not worth it to me.

To raise chipset voltage you need to do the VDD mod.

    fab update

    i just flashed back to the d24 bios and now at desktop @ 420 fsb @ and seems a bit more stable with ddr @ 11 2 2 2.0 @ 2.9 v

now about the amd 2500 + i'm running

    does the following apply ?

drop multiplier to 10 or 10.5 with a fsb of 220 or higher

do i need to raise the voltage going to the cpu to support the higher fsb or is the voltage based on clock speed alone ?

    thanks

    fsb update

no matter what i do this system is not stable over 400 fsb

    any voltage
    and ddr timmings

    i dont get it
got every part for overclocking and will not do 402 fsb with out crashing

    510 deluxe atx pfc
    nf7-s rev 2
    amd 2500 +
    corsair pc3200 XL
    albatron 5900 xt
    agp locked @ 66

    what a joke
    could have saved 500 dollars
and got a value system that performs the same lol

and no i'm not going to do the L12 mod or the chipset mod

k7 platform is aging and will soon be a legacy platform if not allready

I noticed in everest the memroy bandwidth is doubled on the same ddr when going to amd 64 system

    w t f is that about

    tells me the k7 platform memory controllers s u c k
    hint hint ( legacy )

I think its best to wait for the nforce 4 full desktop platform, that way just upgrade cpu , motherboard and maybe video card

anyone want a cpu, motherboard and video card

they all run perfect @ 400 fsb lol and I have taken good care of all parts, nice and clean, allways use arctic ceramique. Never ran overclocked lol it wont do it lol

I will give a great price with a bundle deal to who ever wants it

say 250.00 for all 3 devices not bad considering new would be 180 vc, 80 cpu, 80 mb.

and i'll pay for the shipping to make it that much easier on you.

    yahoo IM is mjs1231

Did you try 2.5-3-3-8 with 2.6v?

    fsb update

yes I tried that setting and lots more

    this is very weird

I did notice one thing my + 12 volt is below 12 volts allmost all the time, on occasion it jumps above 12 .00 but not often

    is that a issue ?

I dont get it , others hitting 225 and 250 with the same ddr as me .

i have tried all the tictac mod bios's , mantaray ect

no difference on any of them

every bios works exactly the same. lol

going out today to get a new multimeter.

funny thing also is , when i overclock the ddr to far, bank1 one returns errors

    allways bank 1

tried moving ram to different slots? Give trats or merlin's D26/D27 a try, tictac's bioses are tuned for tight timings so your RAM might not be doing well since TCCD cant get above 220 with tight timings very easily.

    lol fsb

    funny you ask

I purchased the corsair pc 3200 XL 2x512 from newegg, had to return them twice to new egg, then after receiving 3 sets of bad memory i went dircetly to corsiar and had them replace with tested sticks.

took over 1.5 months and spent way over 400 dollars, loosing time at work and paying for all that shipping , and if thats not bad enough i paid for overnight service the first time i purchased.

    I just cant win

    check this out

baught the pc power and cooling 510 deluxe atx pfc
    directly from the manufacturer

    first one was d o A

second one lasted only one evening

woke up at 5 am to go to work

turn power on and there was a loud pop and bright flash

    second one was dead

got a new one but lol it had a delta fan in it , so loud i could not even run it in my living room

so I figured to take things into my own habnds at this poing

    now check it

    took the psu apart

without cutting any wires or voiding my waranty

I swapped in a enermax dual bearing speed adjustable 80 mm fan and used the extra molex connecto to connect up to the psu's 2 pin fan power connector

used wire cutters to clip the 3 leg from the 3 pin and boom

totaly silent and runs like a champ

    and still got a warranty

    now to the video card
    lol

    got from new egg
sent it back 3 times for a swap

to this day this vc goes into autobreak mode durring games, i however once again took things into my own hands

scored a pci fan card and modded with same enermax fan

so it flows directly on the heatsink and ramsinks

    also

i ordered a vga silencer nv3 for 5900 xt cards

found out my vc pcb only has 2 holes and the cooler has 4 legs lol , to make things worse, i can not get the ramsinks off, tried the freezer trick overnight but with no luck

even grabbed them with wire cutters but damn things would not pull off.

they must use some new type of glue when installed at manufacturer

I must have the worst luck of anyone i know
