I would say go for it! You wont really see a difference with the Bartons extra cache, the DLT3C runs cooler, and you will (90%) be able to hit 2,4 ghz with that baby with a good heatsink and some good TIM. thats 200mhz more over your barton...

    Just my 2 cents

Have 2 DLT3C chips here, a 1700 and 1800... the 17 does 2ghz on 1.59v, but doesnt like much over that, the 18 really flies though, running 2.25ghz atm, on 1.625v, it'll bench at over 2.4 on 1.75v as well, havent really tried for max stable, 2.2 is plenty for day to day... runs nice and cool too, 36idle, 40 load
They are great chips for the money

since we're bragging, xp1800 dl3tc @ 2.6ghz with 1.84volts. Pretty nice for air cooling IMHO.

Do these chips just stop responding too voltage above about 1.75 or so? With that i can hit 2.5ghz, another .1v gets me to 2.6ghz and after that, no amount of voltage helps.

Since this is my main rig, i want the most speed i can stabley get from it.

Wow that thread just remember me my good time I had with my NF7 and a 1700+ DLT3C that was overclocked to 2500mhz! That was a 1100mhz overclock

Those where great time, easier and MUCH cheeper than today!

    Hi Don,

You're on the button with 1.84V on air. You have correctly recognized that you've reached the point of diminishing returns at about 1.85V, which IS typical for the 1700 DLT3C. The DUT3C hits a wall at that point too, and usually won't clock much higher without some xtreme cooling.
Latest: Asus K8n4-e Delux, Mobile 3400 with 1 Mg cache, 754 PCI-E goodness, 7800GT. Four other AMD rigs and a Dell notebook.
