    Strange A64 phenomenon

(MOD, feel free to move this to the OS forum)

Ever since i've had this Neo2/3200 combo i have noticed occasional unexplained CPU usage under "system" in the task manager using anywhere from 30-99% of the CPU time.
(I've run NAV/Adaware/Spybot with no problems showing up)
Whenever i notice a big system slowdown/halt i can bring up the task manager (slowly) and i'll find "system" @ 99% usage.
Of course i'm thinking theres a nasty virus in the kernel but that doesn't seem to be the case. Today i downloaded a trial of security task manager to spy on all the processes and try to figure this thing out.
What i have found was "send to A64 on port0" looking for a "missing system file"?

I'm thinking this has to be somewhat common as this has happened with several different OS installs (all winxp) with different configurations/drivers.

So the question i have is: Has anyone else noticed this "system process" hogging alot of CPU time? And if so, what needs to be done to correct this? A64 driver perhaps or a missing DLL file?
I have never seen mention of this before but it's been pretty consistant since i put this rig together.

No i'm not, the nvidia network manager isn't installed this time around.
I think port0 would be the actual CPU address but i'm not sure just guessing.

5.10's right now. I built it in early October and have used whatever platform driver was current since then. Using either onboard lan or pci lan made no difference.
I did learn something about the "missing system file" in the file text. The missing file is is the info file on the process since the process is too broad to describe near as i can figure.
    Now i'm totally lost.

Why don't you disable the NVRAID service? Did you try googling for the file?

Googling nvraidservice or nvraidservice.exe only comes up with scan logs and people with driver conflicts that won't allow nvraidservice to start.
I would normally think that this utility is for hot swapping sata drives but when i try to stop the service it says system data may be lost.
Has anyone disabled it before when running an OS in raid0 on it.... I really don't want to accidently mess my partion table up. My storage partion has alotta data on it.

Poki had h4xxorz after his megahurtz!

I disabled NAV and installed Antivir and low and behold i found 3 trojans in the java cache. Which i find very odd as i haven't visited any questionable sites in awhile but i must have been consistantly getting them from some place?
I haven't seen system hog up cpu time in that last 50 minutes or so, must be good to go now...

So much for the grand Norton Antivirus, hello free Antivir!
I feel like such a bonehead having posted this now but atleast i got her fixed.
    Thank you for participating.

I'll try it, thanks for the suggestion FallenAngel.
Are these java based viruses pretty common or something?
Should i just disable java all together? Thanks

NAV is trash, looks like you have security centre to so norton firewall and stuff? never have i had more problems than with that program, getting rid of it is a task in itself with all the trash it leaves in registry. AVG is quite good, NOD32 aswell, i sometimes now and then install a new one to check for virii then if alls good i uninstall it or disable it and just run it every now and then. NAV i always find misses stuff, AVG sometimes misses the odd virus, NOD32 i haven't seen miss a virus yet but i always forget to save stuff after reinstall and avg's free edition is newest :p

I know some programs need java like azureus, but can't answer your question, no idea

Thanks for more AV suggetions drunkenmaster.
I don't have the security center just the NAV itself.
I found it very easy to leave all the program files intact and just disable the componets that launch with the system. I haven't had any of the antivirus programs butcher each other *yet*.
