I agree, but i guess it could be explained by faulty overvolt protection? or another random power supply fault on the card?

Its not like i used to get freezes... the card shut itself off totally and gave me a blackscreen. When this happens Vddr and Vgpu fall to 0V and it can only be brought back to life by a hard reset.

I think there is something fishy in the overvolt protection... but i dunno which chip controlls it.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated!

    Bila
PS AFAIK in a later board revision, they changed a capacitor, inductor and the V regulator.... these cards dont suffer from the blackscreen "feature" apparently.

I wouldn't bother unless you got an extremely good overclocker, I'd rma it.

I tried that... Gainward ignored my repeated requests, then banned me from their forum. See this post for further details if your interested in Gainward "technical support" : http://forum.gainward.de/viewtopic.php?t=721

TBH id rather not go into it and keep the thread on topic... Alas, after some tinkering i managed to fix the card with lots of help from Zadah.

It appears the posts from Zadah on that forum suggests that Gainward deviated slightly on the nVidia reference design of the card which is the cause of the problem?

before i start modding like a Psyko I would love to geet som more fedback regarding results????

Also i have a littel picture you migth want to tjek out, Adding profiles on the marked areas gave me a bost of 15 Mhz on core.

So before i couldent bench at 425 Mhz, but 423 was okay.

Now I can run 438 Mhz

Just cant Oc my ram more then 11 mhz because I only have a standard astek whater head Did 880 mhz on air thoug

there has got to be a connection here.
here's the same chip on my board, and the same chip vr-zone vmodded

i think the vmod would be easy but to find a measuring point would definetly be the hardest

i did as best as i could to trace the measuring point back to the chip for the 6800u AGP vmod from this pic:
    http://www.ixbt.com/video2/images/nv...-scan-back.jpg
I think it's 4th pin from the top right of the IC. I measured it and got 1.043V so that can't be it.

it could also be pin 5 from the top right.
    i tried that, i got 1.173V.
we're looking for 1.3-1.4 or so, right?

I also measured pin 5 on the top right when running 3dmark03.
    i measured 1.155V
pin4 from the right didn't change voltage

i will take a look tomorow, i'm a bit sleepy actually ( just come back from a long night party )

but if it's the same chip as one on the ultra, the mod will be nearly the same for this one too
