    Optimal bench setup?

Anyone ever done this? It's my plan to have this done in the next 2 weeks or so :

10GB C:\ Win XP (Main drive)
    leftoverGB D:\ Apps, games, etc
    5GB E:\ Win 2000 (DX8.1)
    5GB F:\ Win 2000 (DX9.0c)
    2GB G:\ Win 2003 server
5GB H:\ Shared swap file for all drives (FAT32)

Obviously we have the main XP drives for casual use, E for 2001, F for 2003/5, G for SuperPi and H is the shared swap, anyone ever considered trying this? It's going to be a for me to do, but I'll get it done

(I thought of putting this in another section, but I feel it really pertains to 3DMark, so I threw it here).

With the shared swap and specific setups (the 2000 setups will have almost nothing installed or running, fully tweaked), do you think this is a nice way to set up being able to perform the best in all benches?

I don't think it's worth it. Also, what's the point of a benchmark if it dosn't pertain to how you are going to be using the computer for everyday applications.

competetion. If you think benchmark speeds you cant run 24/7 are worthless than your at the wrong site this IS XTREME systems.

People bench to compete, not to gauge their average performance. None of my LN2 benches are everyday levels of performance, but they are still completely legit. My everyday machine is a Tbred-B with a GF2, it works fine for 90% of what I do, for an occasional game I can fire up one of my older benching rigs that I havn't been able to sell so I returned them to air cooling. If the game is really intense than I'll try it on my current benching rig.

The Tbred-B system can be run 24/7 and only cost a few dollars a month, the benching setup with it's 2 (Acctually, right now it only has one because I have never gotten around to making a waterblock for my x800 so the chiller doesn't get turned on) compressors and extreme component power draw costs around 60$ a month to operate non 24/7.

The Tbred-B setup is silent, the benching system has noisy fans and compressors.
For those of you about to post:

You are clearly not XTREME enough for us, please go back to the Dell Support Forums, j/k , I usually bench at speeds slightly higher than I run 24/7 just to see how far I can go.

I like to have a bit of extra space for drivers and other critical installations. Not like I'd miss out on that extra 5GB of space at all. Once I figure out how to set this all up, I'll fill you in if it helped at all.

I run a similar drive setup and it works very well.

When you are doing the installs, make sure that 2003 is done last. If not you will bork your boot config and 2003 will not start.

I created os installs with all my tweaks done to them but no dx or drivers.
Use ghost to back them up to another drive, and switch at will.
Just add the drivers/dx version/benckmark proggy I want to run and I'm ready to go.

    peace

am i corect in thinking you can only choose where your swapfile goes for win2k/2003
cuase i dont think it can be done for xp to improve performance can it?

ok it seems you can do that
does it do much for an already slow os?
