Alright, gentlemen. I've got some very interesting test data here that might be of some use to those running 939 NF3 boards, especially the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum.

Three nights ago, I decided to start doing some single channel tests. Yes - just one 512MB VX module. Just prior to going to bed each night, I'd set BIOS to 10x263MHz 1:1 2-2-2-10 1T, run Memtest Test #5 and note the results when I wake up. Go back a few pages and you'll notice that this is my 100% maximum error-free, stable setting in dual channel.

Night #1, Module #1 - Hundreds of thousands of errors in Memtest Test #5
Night #2, Module #2 - Hundreds of thousands of errors in Memtest Test #5
Night #3, 2-Channel - One error in Memtest Test #5 at Loop 2

I find it strange that I can run dual channel and go through countless loops of Memtest error-free. Okay. One error on Loop 2, but that could've been the result of some voltage fluctuation or some insect getting zapped inside one of my PSU's rails. Shouldn't I be guaranteed somewhat higher frequencies with just one module? Or at least, zero errors while looping Memtest?

It would be foolish to conclude that this is a memory controller issue because the load imposed upon the controller is, in theory, half. Right? Wrapping things up, I'd like to use my board as the scapegoat, but what I would really like to know is if other 939NF3ers have experienced similar results.

    Good information bro.

I dont have a 939 rig but something I have seen with mine is that going to one stick gets me no-where higher in MemTest... BUT different Drive Strength values work better depending on how many sticks I am running.

See if setting your Drive Strength from Weak to Normal makes a difference with 1 module Conrad... I have more choices here cos I am with a DFI but I found a weaker value for 1 stick sometimes helps, whereas for two modules Drive Strength 4 is the best for me.
    VX/UTT Voltage Scaling, please contribute...

    Drive Strength = Weak

That's what I had set in BIOS for both single and dual channel. I conducted some tests when I first received the VX and Drive Strength=Normal was a no go for anything over 240MHz.

I can try again tonight, but I'm fairly confident the results will be the same.

Hi there i´m new around these parts.I´ve been reading this thread and it really got me druling over these sticks of RAM. I´m strongly considering buying 1G and a DDR booster! I only getting second thoughts because the MOBO I wanna purchase is the ASUS A8N-SLI DELUXE SOCKET 939, cuz I´m also considering 2 6800 SLI, and I think the DDR booster is no compatible with this MOBO, or at least OCZ hasn´t tested it yet. Does anyone have any idea if it is compatible?

    Thank you for your time

You´ll excuse if there are grammer errors, I´m not used to writing in english.

Hello Conrad and all others, new here at the forums and have been following your progress with the vx. Here is a screen shot of what I have settled on. Have not run prime but superpi 32m stable and memtest stable at 3.4v on the booster, My max cpu temp so far is 59C. Screenshot is blurry from having to shrink it down in paint to upload but hopefully you can make it out.

I am getting these for an RMA of my EB Plat sticks. Here is my question. I am looking to grab either a 939 plus winchester or a 754 plus a 3200 Claw. If I go the 939 route, do you guys recomend the MSI Neo 2 Plat board or which board. It needs to be able to use the booster

Welcome to XS, Yanus! Unfortunately, I do not know if the DDR Booster is compatible with that board. If you do not want to take the chance of being one of the first to find out, you can either mod your 3.3V rail or wait for hipro5's DDR Maximizer.

Congrats on 260MHz, Amiga500! It's a good feeling to hit 260MHz in dual channel with 2-2-2 timings. Best of luck on the road to 265MHz.

vengance_01 - If you look back to when I first started playing with this RAM, I was having very bad luck with two different Winchester 3000 CPUs. I had to drop my CPU multiplier all the way down to 5 in order to push 265MHz. I then switched over to the Newcastle 3500+ that I'm using now and I'm a happy camper. Rabbi_NZ has had tremendous luck and success with his DFI 754 system. My relationship with the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum is love and hate. If I were you, I'd wait another month to see if DFI will release their 939 board. Hopefully, the next revision of Winchesters will be out as well.

thanks for the quick reply, just another question, what´s the hipro5´s DDR maximizer? is it something like DDR booster? noob here...

    Got my VX today.
Im testing at 2.2.2.5. 3.4v at 240 * 10 * 4 ht. Its on a 3200 winchester, Msi k8n neo2 platinum, with max core on a 15b1 bios. It seems reasonably stable however i have not been succesfull at posting into win2000 at 250 x4 ht. Ive enabled "secret" features in bios and tried to disable all known features that prevent OC, like agp 67 mhz, SATA1/2, fast writes etc. Ive let it burn in for some hours using Hot CPU Tester Pro's RAM burn in program

Any suggestions as to improving this? I would like to end up at 250 * 10 24/7.

Since im a noob at knowing where to host screenshots, Im writing what seem to be the most relevant details. Anyone who can host or know where to host 4free?

Mabey I just get a 3000 NC and hope for a weak 41+ and hope my VX can do around 260 for a nice 1:1 with 2.6GHZ. My 2800 O/Ces well up to 2500MHZ, But b/c of the 9 multi it would not go good with these sticks. I like my MSI 754 Neo it really has not giving me any problems.

I plan on using memtest86 all night any suggestions on where I should begin? I plan on trying on the above settings to either be sure its stable or slowly trying to minimize errors.

So, I tested the dividers for you at 2-2-2-10 1t, 2.85v with the 166 memory buss selection running an actual 187mhz on the K8n neo2 running the 4000+ and it works fine. No memory errors in memtest. I had removed the booster and out the memory in slots 1 and 2 to be sure.

I then tested at 275 HTT and 166 memory buss selection for 225mhz on VX. 2-2-2-10 1t, 3.3v and it errored in memetest.

Next I set 2.5-3-3-10 1t with the same settings as above and there were errors.

So, I grabbed the only thing I have that will take the voltage, good old OCZ BH5 2 x 256 and it worked fine at those last settings.

Now I'm wondering if the errors are due to running 2 x 512mb. So......I load up OCZ TCCD 2 x 512mb at the same settings, but lower voltage of course......and TCCD works fine with the dividers.

Now, truthfully I can't see any benefit running A64 with a divider. The CPU is not FSB limited like an Intel. There are aslo some unusual timing issues that come up when using dividers on the on die memory controller. I believe this is what the issue is here. It may possibly be a BIOS or chipset related issue that shows up when pushing the VX. Any theories? Anyone have other memory that dosen't like dividers?
Something I suspected for last few days. I will tell you what the usefullness of divider is on my case. My goal overclock is around 3.2ghz+ benchable using 3500+. Now with multi of 11x, that still is hefty 290FSB+. Don't think VX will scale that high, thus, the divider becomes a necessity. Not everyone is overclocking with Fx-55 here unfortunately, or FX-53. Using 166mhz, the 290+ becomes nice 240+ which most VX seems to be settling at which would be perfect for my need. However, I've had so much trouble wit divider atm that I am getting frustrated a little here.
    Any suggestions?

I think we're at a dead end with this one. My other memory has no issues as far as dividers are concerned. With the VX, I can only use 1:1 (200MHz) and 1:2 (100MHz). This blows for me because I'd like to try 10x300MHz using the 5:6 (166MHz) option for around 250MHz on the RAM side when my phase change is in place.

    Oh well.

So far it's me, jinu117, trans am, and andyOCZ experiencing the divider problem. I'm pretty sure there are a few others.

All or most of the dividers just don't seem to work for us. We're all on 939 NF3 boards, so I'm not sure if it's just a chipset-related issue.

We shall see how this unfolds in next week as I can get my friend to test it on A8N Sli.... AndyOCZ, have you tested this divider issue with A8N Sli or Gigabyte 939 or socket 754? I believe OCZ do have A8N Sli handy,... well probably in Cali office at least... and would like to know if this is the similar issues with 875p while back with various memory or is it more of chipset's limitation itself.

so, just came back from work and this is what i got so far - not much but this is just first result i got:

after raising vcore just a bit i'm @ 260x10 and "priming" - 1hr so far

as far as "DIVIDER problem" then you can add another one to the list i cannot POST at above 279HTT, for sure not w multis x8, x8.5, x9, x9.5 and x10... and that's with memory divider 166 or even with 200 relaxing timmings, 1T or 2T - no help

i think there's something wrong with BIOS/VX config.... maybe some sort of incompatibility ??? just a thought.... with 2x256 BH-5 i can easly prime @ 325x8 with divider 166. although, i could not post above 313HTT with 2x256MB BH-5.... i had to POST with 313HTTx8 and then in jack up HTT in clocgen to 325HTT.... wired stuff... unfortunately this trick didn't work with VX i booted with 270x9 divider 166, then raised to 280HTT (can't normally post with that) and after that only CLEAR CMOS and Power OFF brought Neo2 to life....

i'll be working on it and let you know if i get something... if this won't get fixed then it BLOWS big time as i'm also preparing for some phase change action on that board

    :long-time-no-post:

    im BAack...

    new mobo...MSI Neo2 with Trat's 1.37 BIOS
    booster @ 3.4 (+.08?...high 3.4s)

    260 (x10) with a copper TT HSF...

this mobo likes the VX A LOT better than the AV8 did...
(or is it P95 likes this mobo better?! )

255 (x10) P95ed for 5.25Hours (NO errors yet..)...NO WAY the AV8 (with all the same "stuff") could have done that

PS my BH-5 topped out <250 with same timings in this mobo/BIOS
and the AV8 couldnt take them past 220's...
