B1 cpu's are VERy POOR overclockers... that IS your problem. I had one too, a 730 ES... a B1 and they are terrible!
what is your ram?
It's not easy to start from step 1 on this... there are a number of large threads here that will help you learn how to OC the Dothan.

what is the differance between the ones that end with five and the other ones? (735vs.730, 745vs.740) which overclock better and which are newer? Thanks!

if it ends with 0 its new and has a 533mhz bus.

well this does 2.77 @ 1.692V @ -10C at best - can't keep that on very long 'cause I use the pinmod to get those volts and the pinmod doesn't seem to work if I fill the socket with di-electric grease (to insulate it 'cause -10C)...hmm...I hang it around 2.66 for its 24/7 speed

7x5 are always 400fsb B1 cpu's...

7x0 are always 533fsb C0 cpu's

Intel Engineering Sample 533 fsb cpu's are simply B1 cpu's with 533fsb enabled on-die, and OC poorly.

oh - so all 400fsb are b1s aye...'cause i can't use the 533 fsb ones 'cause even the 2.13 only has a 16x multi and i'm on the dfi 855 board so my fsb doesn't go too high

- I've found 1.6V to be roughly the sweet spot - anymore offers little help.

gagh - I really wish this friggin ATI card could work with some upped AGP clocks, my 6800GT would do fine right up to 78Mhz, gah

Yonah although based upon Dothan, is a major redesign.

Banias > Dothan was not much of a change, so Yonah should be even better

IMHO I am affraid, that Yonah & dual core ones would not work properly on existing Desktop MoBo &/or using existing CT adapter (different voltages?) & will not be any bios uppgrade ... Maybe will come out newer CT adapter (V2.0?) & bios for it, since actual one (does not support) is not suitable for running LV & VLV Dothans either (IMHO could work, just not recommended) ...

Generaly, C-M & P_M have at same Vcore & clock frequency same thermal dissipation ...

LV ones have approx. just 1/2 & ULV ones just approx. 1/3
of dissipation of medium of upper ones, since they have default even lower voltages & frequencies, also Boot Vcore (best samples!) but expencier
& could die if mounted on desktop boards/or thru CT adapter-
(not supported!), but IMHO LV ones with highest frequencies
should work & also OC w/o upping Vcore nicely, but I am not
sure ...

Hey Charlie, I don´t think that all ES 533´s CPU´s are B1 with 533FSB enabled on-die.

I have a new ES Chip, but this time 2.26. This one overclocks very very good. 3092MHz was highest clock on unmodified P4C800-E with 1023 Bios.

Boot up with 15x200 is no problem :-) Now it´s time to reinstall windows to get some good Super Pi Times

i wonder if LV/ULV chips are picked from the same locations from wafer 2.26's are. i remember something that chips in the middle of wafer will be usually low voltage and higher clocking ones..
so i don't see no apparent reason why LV dothans won't work with adapter.. apart the overvoltage issues and maybe asus bioses rejecting them..
anyone have LV/ULV cpu lying around and want to risk to try it with ct-479?

they are quite expensive.. but if you'll get for $300-$400 a chip that does 2.9-3ghz on air, that's not much..

LV and ULV are 400 fsb (B1) dothans as you know they don't that well compared to the 533 (C0) models.

So I don't see any similarities between them

No Aircooling, watercooling!

ambient temperature is about 25°C-28°C, it´s very warm without AC :-)

hehe i dont nope much for WC ether. It will make it way more stable proabaly cpu -21c idle/ -14c load. Should be enough to make it 24/7 gaming rig @ 3G. Rememeber this is not a benching setup, box runs for as long as i like. On the pics the box is just getting assembled but you will get the point. Watercolling is setup diferent then on the pics, my heatercores are repositioned and get all the air from AC fan. You like their size

they are from Mustag GT 1977 .
Also check the q3 screenshot this game uses all cpu like no other. I bet with xp90 it be below 0

. PI benchmark just raises up temps to -5c

So far i find that 280x10 1:1 2.4.4.6 is the best 24x7 gaming setup. With realy not bad 1121FSB for descent rambandwide, ok ram latency timings @280, and realy low latency cache this cpu has which = fast read access to memory, which is the most imporatant for game performance , this setup realy shines. Cpu power = to fx55 @ 3.4 at least. How many do game on that speed? I realy dobt Fx-55 would give me same performance in my chillbox. Phase is for benchmarking not gaming. I do respect it and want one for my self to but that's not an option for now

How come your AM3 result is so low, I see a graphiccard that is at least a Gainward GF6800GT (@ultra speeds or a GLH edition :P)

280 fsb is idd nice for a 24/7 system @ such low voltages

I wish I could do that with my BH5/6 stickies

No no condensation i sealed it completly air tight. Took a while but in the end it was all worth it. Drew from EOCF helped mentaly on this progect. I was runing my s478 p4 @4.3 24/7. But this Dothan is just a blessing for the box almost no heat otput compare to pressy
