    Dothan overclocking thread

Since the boards are available (even here in Finland mind you!! ) I thought that it might be a good idea to start a thread on Intel Dothan (0.09u, 2MB L2) overclocking.

Here's some stuff I got today:
    DFI mobo:

    Dothan 1.5GHz CPU:

Default heatsink that comes w/ the DFI mobo (the tiny one - obviously):

Stuff installed on mobo (2x512MB BH5 there):

Now anyone want to guess what you can get out of this thing useing just that silly little cooler and 100% default voltages?

Just finished installing WinXP on this rig and decided to try some Overclocking (it has been made easy once again thanks to Franck - the Author of Clockgen).
So a 1.5GHz chip and a CPU cooler that looks like the ones that usually sit on top of mobo chipsets:

    SuperPi 1M:
    @2435MHz

Just crazy!! nearly 1Gig overclock just by upping the FSB via clockgen. Stunning.
And this was supposed to be just a back-up CPU till I get the 1.7G model I just ordered - ripped off my mates laptop when he upgraded to a faster dothan

The 35sec time aint very optimal since I can reach it already at 2.2G w/ ram divider (higher RAM speed).

Next step is to increase the Vdimm a bit (only 2.6V available without vmod) and see how it runs w/ faster mem speed.

Also just about to plug the video card in (been useing the integrated video so far) and try some 3Dmark

Overall a VERY interesting little CPU. TDP of 21W makes it ideal for a silent yet very powerful system.

And such a small heatsink too. Cooling must not be a huge problem with that processor

Nice Macci! These small 1.5G's are much more affordable than the heavy priced ones we are used to see.. Shouldn't that 1M be quite a bit better? Some guy was in the mid-20's @ 28xx i think

I don't think their going to be FX-55 killers. They're good at gaming and Super Pi and maybe a few other things, but that aritecture doesn't seem to like all programs..

    macci,
This is JUSt AWESOME! Lmfao.... a P3 cooler would be an upgrade, lol! Actually, looks like an Alpha PAL6035 would be a very nice upgrade with a couple mods
Will be very interesting to see the voltmods....
Few questions.... sorry if they're NOOOOB
    What are multi's avail?
What's the diff between 725-765? Just speed binned?
Why does the mobo say 479 pins, but Dothan are 478?
    thx

Wonder if you can use a OCZ DDR booster???

    Or are the multi's LOCKED?
    Like 1.8 @ 18 x 100 and 2.0 (755) @ 20 x 100?????????

I feel another BIG fad coming on....
There are SOOOO many cool looking little Micro-ATX cases out there, I'm waiting for the onslaught of customized silent-Dothan mini-desktops!!!

1.) I believe just the lower ones
2.) yeah speed binning it seems
3.) its just a way to show theirs a difference in between the sockets. Intel would confuse us too much if they named S479 S478.

I know i know, very low heat output to begin with, but could one hook a nb waterblock to this, ie dangerden's maze4 for 865/875?
