Awesome! Looks great, not so sure about the green connectors, black would have been more esthetic even if not uv glow.
I don't see any ajustment pots on the pic, correct me if i'm wrong.

Nice PSU, looking forward to some more info on it.
uhmm..... lol, Saaya, I'm remembering our discussion on this very same topic not long ago on AIM.Originally Posted by saaya

This looks very similiar to the X-Connect supplies.
Voltage is voltage, regardless of any added resistance that the modular lines might add. As long as the rails are clean, and the amps are there, what difference does it make to have the modular lines...none if you ask me. If you have 2 supplies running at 12v and they both have pretty close clean rails, it doesnt matter if one requires 1000ohms of resistance and the other 10ohms of resistance to get to 12v.
I think many people try to stay so old school about hardware, that new innovations to them "must" have something wrong with them.
I like my women the way I like my processors...naked.
I am not the HellFire that writes bios files. I work strictly on voltage modifications.
I think what people are referring to about modular power supplies is that the connectors added resistance could cause heat build-up or restriction on amperage due to low contact pressure or bad contact period.
Its not that much of a problem really (how many ATX connectors do you guys hear about spontaneously bursting into flames for example?), but it is something to take consideration of
Should be a good product for where a powerstream is too much overkill hehe

pelts suck a lotta amps if you're running them off a 12v molexOriginally Posted by STEvil
but yes, in general the wire thicknesses of psu's are overkill.
"Monolith" - [ Xeon W3540 (4.22) - Rampage 2 Extreme - 12 GB Ripjaws 1600 - GTX 570 - 120 GB OCZ Vertex - Antec TruePower 750W - Corsair 700D - Apogee XT CPU Block - XSPC 360 Rad ]
Old Box - [ E4600 2.4 @ 3.7ghz (11x335) - P5W-DH - 4gb Gskill @ 893mhz - Radeon 3850 ]
Well, I meant the connectors (as you just showed) are the real problem, but i'd say the wires themselves are not overkill at all.. especially at the power requirements we are starting to see
Personally i'd like it if everything was run from +12v only or +24v and we had a couple large guage wires (2x 8guage, 1x 4guage.. etc) comming from the PSU to feed the motherboard that were attached to the motherboard with electrical loop or spade type connectors and a good screw thats not going to strip easily
All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
I think the modular design is very clever.
The extra resistance in another molex wont make any difference to perofmrance, especially if OCZhave used decent connectors.
Im sick of having extra power wires in my case, this is a very clever solution.
I dont think ill be buying one, but I might mod my fortron to be modular..
Nice... adjustable I assume, 4th person to ask it in this thread but anyway... looks very nice especially with my blue/UV Lian-Li PC71

Friend: Do you have a spare PSU lying around?
Me: No why?
Friend: My PSU just blew up, I think the second 8800GTX might have been too much for it to handle
Me: what PSU was that again?
Friend: Antec 480w

sheesh...what timing...merry christmas to me!!
I can't keep up with OCZ!!! i ll follow every two generations of hardware
to all you guys there!
if this is your first night in xtremesystems,
you have to overclock.
Lol

Thanks

I think the modular idea is a perfect solution.
I cant stand having wires all over the place for connectors I might not even be using. If the PowerStream were modular and sleeved (COUGH), it would pretty much be the king in supplies as far as visual appeal is concerned. Its already proven to be one of the best supplies performance wise. Kicked the poh outta my much more expensive PCP&C 510 Deluxe when FUGGER tested them together on one of his rigs.
True, connection issues are always a concern when having anyting thats modular, but I am sure they have taken that into consideration and used high quality contacts for this application.

Nice looking PSU.
Some specs would be nice though.
Wow thats one sexy psu..
Great job OCZ !!
Its not adjustable boys...powerstream is for that. This one is more standard on specs but heaps of good looks

Big toe, you guys using gold contacts on the connectors.
As far as connector issues, molex are some of the worst connectors alive. I know this may come as a surpise to you and it did to me. but my dad connects and disconnects molexs all day long, and they have some of the highest failure rates ever. He works in a music studio where they get some crazy connectors so they are really picky about this stuff. The problem with molex is that unles they are gold coated they have a high tendency to get corosion on them, thus making the connectors loose volts and amperage. Other issues like what you just saw with the pelt occure when the connection is not all that great and you get shorting.
I know of the best connectors alive if anyone is interested. They just arnt exact compatibile with our hds cdroms and othere thigns. But hey if u want ot go crazy you can mod all ur hardware to use these connectors..
They are called deans. here is a pic They are mainly used on rc cars, but these things have lower resistance than copper wire.. yes i said less. the only problem with them is that the pressure that the plug uses is realy high and it takes alot of force to unplug them. That and you have to heatshink all of the wires conected to them so they dont short out. also these plugs can take pretty much any amperage that you can throw at them. these guys can take the amperage of running 20 hair dryes off of them with ease. powerstream ownz this thing for OCing i know that.
can someone post some rails for this thing?
bigtoe you guys need to make a modular version of the Powerstream all those damn extra cables suck if you dont need them it would be a gift from OCZ to have the Powerstream Modularized.

acid baby, dont post something you know nothing about.. I dont mean to flame, buts its irresponsible.
Well hes right to some degree , the powerstream has better overall specs
The 520 watt version of these is supposed to go for around 100 US , so this is meant to be a better value , and still better specs than most out there
