Yep, there's a problem allright.... It seem to be stable at first, but now I'm getting BSOD when loading WinXP even at defaults...... this MoBo is piece of junk..... I'm putting 4PEA in.......

You can actually get it right off Kingstons website. $209 for 256mb

That's why I didn't order. Also Computer Giants in the US has them for $200 and $130 for 128 mb.

POS? You mean you think the board is a poece of sh*t after running at 164/4x stable?

Does it pass Prime and 3dmark looped OK?

Interesting results.. I was looking into getting one of them, but I hear there are many problems (but, most can be fixed via BIOS update, I heard..).

TodB, I'm surprised it isn't even stable at default speeds!
Please don't ban me from these forums too...

Well it ain't stable at 164/4x.... but for now I can say that 160/4x is running OK without a problem...

I can load WinXP at 164/4x, but 3D MARK2001SE crashes after the first scene...

Anyway, after the new BIOS ( 2a23 ) it seems to be gaining stability.... I do got some system boot up problems, but then again in Windows everything seems to be running good.....
    Some more info soon..

Well for now it's running stable @160FSB/4x and seems to have no problems running at that speed....

At 163FSB I can run some benchmarks like PC MARK2002 and SANDRA and even FLASK Encoding, but 3D MARK2001SE is a no go, CC Winstone 2002 too....

165MHz FSB is the "last able to boot in Windows" speed and at 165FSB I can only run some Sandra Memory Benches... that's all...

So guys, is the EPoX 4T4A Series board junk or what?

I have a rev 1.2 board and it will run at stock speed but still hangs doing DivX 5.02 encoding. It will run Sandra burn-in and Prime95 for days and days. If I try to push to 141MHz with 4x and the PCI/AGP bus unlocked, I can crash the machine buy playing almost any game.

I got a message back from GamePC and they no longer carry the board and couldn't make it run long enough to even do a review.
The folks at T-Break went through three boards with the EPoX guys before they found one that would even boot.

Is it really a memory issue? Did you guys have to hand pick RIMMs to hit the speeds (160s) you're at?

You guys are my last hope at getting this board to function properly. What's your secret, other than just being darn good at would you do. (-:

Why not lock the PCI/AGP to 33/67mhz and see if this improves
stability. I think you can do this with the phoenix bios.

I had the 4T4A+ board last week as well and it was the newest revision 2.0. It was really very stable but with only 1 module.
With 2 modules you couldn't run anything at all. If you start memtest86 with 2 modules, you get only errors. With 1 module I could run a 2.4B processor at 160x4 without a hip.
I brought the board back because I wouldn't wanted to work with only 256MB of memory.

To lock the AGP/PCI bus doesn't help. There are not many cards that can't handle an PCI bus from 37 or 38MHz and the same for AGP cards.

It really depends on the memory.

What type of rdram did you use Rick,

Samsung 4200 or Kingston? Epox says only Kingston works in it.

Was it really stable at 160/4x? Prime95 OK?

I had 2x256MB SAMSUNG RIMM4200 modules, no KINGSTON.

It was absolutely stable at that speed. (160x4) Had around 4050/4050MB/s with sisoftsandra.

Did you try to run Prime95 on it?

What did you think of the board though? Worth it?

Ever have a new Asus P4T533?

Indeed I ran PRIME95 for many hours.

My opinion is that it's a very good board with lots of features and overclocking features. It's definately worth all it's money. If you can choose between the ASUS and the EPOX, I would choose the EPOX if you are not using 2 SAMSUNG modules.
Never tested an ASUS P4T533, but it should be okay as well, just the less overclock options.

My Asus P4T533 will only do 145/4x running Prime.

Anything higher and Prime doesn't run. I can do 169/3x though.
I wonder if the Epox will allow me higher?

    It could be my rdram.

Does the P4T533 have the option to raise the RDRAM voltage ? That could help.
From the 2 modules that I had only one made it till 160x4, the other had allready problems at default with memtest86.

No vdimm option but I modded the board for it. It didn't help at all.
Maybe 1 mhz more. I took it up to 2.92v but nothing.

Still don't know board or ram....

I really hope for you that you don't get problems with those 2 SAMSUNG modules running stable.

Just try memtest86 at different settings starting with default.
If you don't get any errors, than it should run faultless.

    Unhappy 4t4au Board

    To Whom Owns this Board..

    A) I could not get windows XP to Install with 2 sticks of Samsung 4200 512Mb Memory.. I had to go with one stick. X4setting

    B) My best stuff so far is running with the new bios and at 3X 144mhz
one Stick of Ram and a geforce4 I would like to try 1Gig later..And the hdd drive led doesnt work either.

    c) The only good thing for this board is a spare board .. I think that the no atx12volt connector messed up this board..I really dont know how it could run a hyperthreading p-4

    d) Thank you all for the information on this board Anyone reading this I would recommend to stay away from this Motherboard.

    What revision is your board?

Yours is a 4T4AU. The ones for sale now are mostly 4T4A+.

I don't think there is a new bios for the 4T4A+ though.

The revision number is in the lower left corner of the board near the PCI slots.
