    HD4850 BIOS flashing pointers.

    Hi guys.

I have a Gainward HD4850 that I am running at 700/1100 with the stock BIOS and cooler.

What BIOS can I flash onto the card? (Does it have to be Gainward?) Do I have to worry about checksum like the HD2900? Best BIOS to flash? Safest way to flash?

    Thanks muchly

    Hey, nice one mate

I'll extract via GPU-Z and post up tonight.

What do you mean unlock, increase the CCC limits? Increase VGPU voltage?

I have no idea what RAM is on the card unfortunately as the stock cooler is still in place until the Arctic twin turbo is released.

I think he means exactly that, raise the CCC limit and increase the vgpu voltage as much as the bios lets him. I think your only allowed to go up to 1.2v's with bios.

sweet, did u check wiche DDR3 chips u got on it? It's easy, just unscrew the cooler and check it out, u can also change thermal paste for a better one in this move.

I was expecting a new and reformulated bios from gainward but it is exactly the same as my earlier sapphire, same slow fan settings also... I was expecting newer version Bios, higher default voltage and clocks and optimal fan profile.

Ah yeah I see. The MSI BIOS has better cooling profile and Powerplay works. Would it be worth flashing that?

why download a different bios ?

just open yours with RBE and set the clocks to what you like (1.1.3 allows more CCC limits too)

As some of the ones listed above have much better fan profiles. Especially the MSI BIOS.

you mean when it kicks in ?
you can set all of that in RBE, you set the fan speed at a certain temp

Sort of, the MSI BIOS has a fan contour lookup table type thingy, so it slowly ramps up depending on temp, but does it much sooner and smoother than BIOS's without this table. Its hard to explain, but download it and look at the fan profiles in RBE.

Any chance you could do me my Gainward BIOS the same as you have done, but with 1.2v vGPU?

    Hi!

I1ve got a Gainward 4850 with a GFX chilla on it. The temps are pretty cool, (51°C max on load under 3DMark ) but the clocks are not so fine, the GPU dosent want to run 3D mark on 700. So i thought to bump the core voltage a little bit. The latest ATT would be good for that, but somebody told me, that it dose not really bump the core voltage. So I'd try some BIOS mod, but I dont know if it wokrs( i.e. it can I really bump the voltage with the BIOS flash? )
