    Question OCZ 4200-EL Platinum - Overclocking and best options...

    I got my OCZ 4200 Platinum yesterday, spend the day overclocking it with mixed results...

    Can someone explain to my what I'm aiming for... Should I be looking to get the highest memory bandwith possible on Sandra or the quickest SuperPi/Aquamark/3d Mark 2001 time?...

    This is confusing my slightly... I can run FSB of 260 (dual channel @ 2.5-3-3-7) with Multi at 11 and have a bandwith of 7648Mb/S Int Buff'd, which I guess is good, however this results in a slower SuperPi/Aquamark/3D Mark than say running the FSB at 246 x 12... This way i get a faster SuperPi but smaller memory bandwith in Sandra...

    What should I be aiming for?... Highest Bandwith Possible with relaxed memory timings or FSB at tightest timings?...

    Doesn't the AMD64 just require much quicker memory timings than greater bandwith of memory?...

    If someone could let me know or point me in the right direction that would be great - I have been reading through the forums, just need someone to clear this up for me!

    246 x 12=2952mhz
    260 x 11=2860mhz
    you have almost 100mhz more with the slower fsb-settings. Trust the real benches the show the real life performance. Sandra sucks its just for show off. Have you comparred 3dmark2001 at thoose settings?

    You should be able to get 268x11 to have the best of both. I have the same setup and if you set vcore to 1.55 +10% (141 bios) and vdimm to 2.85, you should be fine unless you have an older chipset date on the NEO2. If you want more vcore, go with 136B bios.

    Well after some playing about this is what I can get

    Think I've got it right!....

    memory timings 2.5-3-3-7 @ 1T (vDimm = 2.50)

    243 FSB x 12 = 2916 (vCore = 1.71)

    HT=4

    SuperPi Time = 29s
    3DMark2001 = 29,043
    Sandra = 7297mb/S

    What do you guys think?...

    Or maybe I should try raising the FSB more and drop the multi down to 11 and try to get 263 x 11... I just can't seem to get over 260FSB... bah!...

    I've been keeping away from the .5 multipliers - is this a good idea?.. Should I try...

    253 x 11.5 = 2909??

    It seems my CPU max's out around 2900-2950 mark...

    Any advice appreciated! - I just want to get the most out of my system.

    vdimm 2.5? Knock it up to 2.85 and see what you can get. And yes, NO 1/2 multis.

    Is there a way you can get a ddr booster or vdimm mod? you might have better results with volts over 3.1. I have the same ram and they do like voltage.
