Can I get a copy of that ClockGen? I have a 2.1GHz Dothan sitting.

any special tweaks, TheStilt, or mostly those covered in the usual XP Tweak Guides?Originally Posted by The Stilt

i also don't get why perkam's cpuz screen shows the cpu specification as 2.10ghz and the name as M 745. isn't the M 745 1.8, 755 2.0 and 765 2.1?
okay.. so..
tweaker for i855PM based motherboards (those in laptops): http://www.cpuid.org/download/Tw855.zip
the clockgen for DFI's 855GME board (http://www.cpuid.com/download/CG-ICS952618.zip) worked for me for some reason. maybe it will work for you too.
I've tried the ...2618 clockgen version twice to no avail. It doesn't recognise anything when i press "get fsb".Originally Posted by sh33p
Also, last night I started playing with the tweaker. Changed CAS from 2.5 to 2 fine. some benchmarks. OK. Changed tras from 3 to 2. bum... windows bsod and SYSTEM file corrupted
I'm fixing it right now.... not a very good experience with tweaker for me.

god damn i must be lucky then. i went for 2-2-2-5 and bsod'd immediately but i could reboot fine.
i can run the CAS latency at 1.5 no problem. i guess its because i have ddr400 running at 166MHz. What sort of ram do you have?
Hey TheStilt, if you ever come back here, how did you increase your vdimm? i got the blue screen at 2400mhz
did a superpi1m at 2300mhz 1.5-3-3-5 39s
took strangely long to generate the .txt file (4s)...
and i need help with the last three settings on the tweaker, what does each do?
I have 1GB DDR333 rated 2.5-3-3-7. Guess they don't like to be pushed.
Damm. 2300 is nice. I was just wishing for 2000-2100
Well, windows is a no go. Loose all my user config that was on that single file.
Gona have to install windows again. Well, look at the bright side. I'm gonna install now linux on the second partition

hhaha i was kind of disappointed with 2300 considering what thestilt got. i mean, have you even seen this thread:http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...2&page=1&pp=25
granted they've got more flexible options but still. 900+mhz overclock. its absurd..
2000 - 2300 is the same as 1800 - 2100 except its a smaller percentage increase. bear in mind i have a m755 dude =D
sorry the clockgen doesn't work for you. you gonna give the tweaker another shot and not touch the tRAS?
in CPU-Z what are your motherboard details? ASUS mobo? it says mine is made by KAPOK Model Intel 852/855GM chipset i855PM. i don't know why the clockgen would work for me but not for you
PM TheStilt or jjcom and see if they'll hook you up with the modded clockgen. good luck

Greetings, I'd like a copy of the ClockGen for the Acer laptops, just PM me please.
Did some trials using the DFI ClockGen on my laptop. Looked as if it worked, but CPU-Z didn't report that the frequence had changed :/
I OC:ed my m9700r to 430ish core and 230ish memory, didn't complain at all.
Just a bit worried about the cooling...
did you click refresh on cpu-z? it doesn't always detect system changes immediately.
you overclocked your 9700m TO 430/230? my defaults are 450/250....
Stilt or JJCOM, please send us the modded clock gen. the dfi855gm clockgen screws me up when i overclock i think its the pci/agp bus
Clocking a laptop is a good idea - if it doesn't work it's much easier to throw it out of the window than a desktop rig.............

for others who are equally optimistic, you should also try the SetFSB for i855 chipsets. it also works on my comp and maybe it will work for you too. app can be found here: http://www13.plala.or.jp/setfsb/ download the correct one depending on your southbridge chipset. i'm using the 1.5a. and make sure you get the file linked at the top of the page
the thing i like about SetFSB is that it allows changes to be made to the pci/agp bus independently of the fsb. however, i don't know if the pci/agp bus stays at that speed as cpuid clock gen shows a higher value. see screenie for details
does anyone know a reliable and accurate method of seeing what the agp/pci bus speed is?
Anything that would work on a lowly i852G? There's a P4 2.4 GHz D1 in there

Yeah, I was higher on the mr9700, but since I don't want the thing getting too hot I'll let it stay put at 430/230ish.
Seems really odd that the DFI-CG seems to work, but CPU-Z doesn't show it.
either the CG is not working, or something is fishy.... really fishy...
A suggestion to anyone with mobile radeons in their laptops. My mobility 9800 that was in my dell didn't oc worth a damn with the mobility drivers. But once I installed omega drivers (desktop catalysts that work on laptops), not only did the image quality of my games improve, but any bugs I had seen in my games before disapeared, performance was better...and it ended up overclocking like a beast to 400 core! So basically, do yourself a favor a go grab omega's modded drivers, they work great!
Ivan: In terms of clockgens look at what cpuid and setfsb have to offer. If there's nothing for the i852 then I think you're stuck. you can however try the i855 tweaker http://www.cpuid.org/download/Tw855.zip which also supports i852 based boards.
Warship: are you using the latest version of cpu-z? try setFSB and see if that works. if not then bad times i guess. sit tight and wait for thestilt to get back to us.
Enjoy: I am using the omega cats .97a still got some bugs in older games but they're alright. your 9800m is clocked below 400MHz at default?... if by "mobility drivers" you mean the drivers you download from dell i think they're crap. plus they're hardly ever updated. if you want to use the standard drivers on a mobility card the mobility modder http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/ works great too.

Are you saying ATI has overclocking anti-protection in their mobile drivers? :-\
sh33p
Thanks, I will try it now. Well, it seems like I can change timings. What good is it, though if I can't o/c this D1 chip to where it belongs

Sh33p: Yeah, as I suspected, tried both the 1.6a beta and the 1.5a setFSB, neither did work. :/
Ivan: There's no such thing as a "mobility driver" if you've ever tried to download a driver from the ATI website they will give you some spiel about the differences in screen size and whatnot making it impossible to publish a standardised set of drivers, since there is no standard.
Whats supposed to happen is that the company that manufactured your laptop will edit and release their own version of the drivers that fit your machine, so like, custom res and refresh rate settings. what ends up happening is most of these companies end up getting lazy and they don't bother releasing new drivers. I guess the dell drivers enjoy had might have had some kind of overclocking protection.
Warship: unlucky mate. well thestilt has been active lately he's posting everywhere but here. say, do you want to send him a PM asking him to link you the clockgen? I don't really want to do it because i'll come across like the whiny brat that i am. =p then you can send it to all of us and we can liberate our cpus
>>There's no such thing as a "mobility driver" if you've ever tried to download a driver from the ATI website they will give you some spiel about the differences in screen size and whatnot making it impossible to publish a standardised set of drivers, since there is no standard.
I know. However, they are the ones who make the drivers and then distribute them to the manufacturers to mod the infs for customs resolutions / etc.
>>I guess the dell drivers enjoy had might have had some kind of overclocking protection.
Stupid OEM's won't play with things like that if ATi doesn't implement them. However, they may have the option to turn it on and off, though.
