MSI k8n neo2 northbridge problem.
I heard a scary story of bad TIM application on the NF3 fansink on the neo2's over on pcper forums. I pulled mine off and this is what I found.
Everyone might want to check theirs too.

... MSI always had the best quality IMO.

Other than that little problem, this board is pretty solid IMO. The reason I took it off in the first place was to try to put on an ICEBERQ copper cooler, but it won't fit. Does anyone know of a good low profile active northbridge cooler that will fit on this board? I can't use a tall passive cooler b/c of my NVsilencer5 hovers about an inch above it.

to be honest with you, this is the first thing i always do when i get a new mainboard... i would not call it a problem... the way mainboard manufacturers apply thermal paste is fully automated and u just simply can't expect it to be perfect. it's sufficient to run board at stock so nobody really cares...
conclusion... ALWAYS remove stock heatink and re-apply thermal paste... ALWAYS
and it doesn't matter who makes the mainboard... i've had Abit, DFI, Gigabyte, Shuttle.... all are the same....

Neo2 can handle 350++ FSB with stock thermal paste so who cares?
