    KD7 without 12v "P4" connector

    Anybody tried this? I think I will unless someone says they burned their house down trying it. I'm wondering if it's really needed and if I may be better off without it. New and tangibly different do not always mean better. This is just a proposition, no conclusions here at all at this point.

    i don't think it's required.

    it shouldn't hurt anything by trying it.

    It doesn't hurt and doesen't give you any advantage .....
    That's at least what it does for me - nothing worth mentioning

    That's what I was looking for

    Someone who's done it without any real issues. Maybe try some testing tonight.

    It works but your 12volt will take a big drop, no need to lose your 12v, works better plugged in

    Ouch!

    Ok that blows. That's particularly what I was looking at too. Low 12v which evryone seems to have with this board. However my 5v is real juicy which was makin me think maybe in some backwards freak of engineering unplugging it would even those out. 12v must be REAL low without it then. Oh well, worth the thought I guess.

    My 12v rail is at like 11.68 with a 500w Powmax supply and the 4 pin connector plugged in. Well over 5 on the 5v and like 3.28 on the 3.3v. What are yours out of curiosity.

    just got a kd7 today. I have a 600w compusa psu currently plugged in.

    1700 tbred going default for next few days to burn in.

    I raised the vcore to 1.525 in bios and read 1.52 to 1.54 in hardware monitor.

    3.3 = 3.39
    5.0 = 4.95
    12 = 11.97 (11.91 when 4pin is unplugged)

    vsb = 4.99
    Vbat= 3.12
    this is windows idle - won't be loading it til 24hrs have gone by. I'll report load voltages then.

    after 24 hours I raised multi to 13 by 133fsb and it needs 1.65 to run stable with AX7/50cfm - loaded temp is 51C

    Voltages remain the same.

    I am now stressing it at 11X151 which is the same as 13X133 but raised vcore to 1.80 for second burn in. Voltages are the same but the 12+ reading fluctuates from 11.92 to 11.98 at this higher vcore setting and the vcore reads 1.78~1.79. loaded temp is 57C.

    nice board but the rails are too low for comfort

    Tiribulus, have you by chance peeked inside your PSU, to see if it has pots to adjust? I have a Powmax 500 watt too, and I'm having the same low +12v issue. BTW, it's runnin' a XP2400+ on a KD7, and I have both ATX plugs plugged in, so we're in a very similar state. I just got the new revised c8 bios, (not the problem one) so maybe after I flash it, I'll look inside. Edited: Sorry, ignore the NEW bios part. Someone posted in another forum that it was straightened out. NOT. Oh well, it's not the first time I wasted 1/2 hour or so. :p
