Question Push for 2nd in daily production?

Anybody up for a little push? The #2 and #3 teams in daily production are very close to each other and only about 75% more that what we currently produce. Now I know that sounds like alot, but getting more XS.org people involved and getting more of your friends and family involved should easily take care of this deficit.

I know DDTung showed some interest in this project the last time he posted here so let's give a big push for him to show we are serious and would appreciate any/all of his help with D²OL. If we can not get to 2nd or 3rd... then when he joins up with us we should easily rocket past the DPC and ARS.

So... anyone else interested in a little challenge?

Maybe a little contest is in order? (with prizes of course!!!)

I did a little contest on another project where people gained a "numbered ticket" for a certain amount of production(like 1 ticket every 250 conformers). All your production during the given time frame went towards these "tickets". After the end of this time... my son drew numbers out of a hat and whoever had those numbers won prizes. It's semi-simple and in my opinion, pretty fair. Those who produce a lot will get a lot of tickets but we all know that this does NOT guarantee a win(ie. the Yankees ). Even someone who has just one ticket can win(ie. the Red Socks ).

So... any of this sound like fun? Or am I just an idiot?

BTW, I have a Procore radiator & shroud, Swiftech MCW5002-A, and some tubing that I could include in a prize package. I'd want to also include a pump in that package so I'd be sure to get one of those before the contest would officially start.

This can be a lot of fun guys...

Then there's always cash via PayPal. I've had a couple of contests with prizes like that too. $25 via PayPal can get almost anyone to smile.

as far as upgrades go.... can't really do much at the moment... significant amount of money has been allocated for phase change cooling for my XP-M "wonder chip"
so no luck here but i can put out some "paypal money" for the winner...
    great idea, Jeff....

So does 250 conformers/ticket sound fair for a 7-day contest?

My buddy's 1.7GHz XP puts out ~100/day so that means that single rig people should get at least 3 tickets... more if they can recruit their friends and family under their username. We can make a rule where we will ROUND UP to the next ticket increment at the end of the contest. (ie. if you are at 251 conformers at the end of the contest you will receive TWO tickets!)

Also... I will NOT participate in the contest. I'll have enough fun just watching everybody push.

Come to think of it, at the start of the contest we shoud ROUND DOWN to the previous 250 mark. (ie. if you are at 249 conformers at the start of the contest we should say that you started at 0. ) Basically that means that once you turn in one more conformer you will already receive your first ticket

Also, that will make it incredibly easy to see how many tickets you are up to. Keeping everybody getting tickets at 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1250, 1500, 1750, 2000, 2250, 2500, 2750, 3000, 3250, etc. is how it should be done... imho at least.

    Remember... FUN!!!

Let's talk about this a little more before we start. Just to get the ideas out and then pick the best.

I think Sunday evening is a pretty decent start/stop time. Maybe 9pm EDT? That way the winners can be announced the following Tuesday... or if we want people to suffer, the following Saturday.

And that's the exact page I was going to use. Free-DC !!!

    9pm is fine....
also we should urge all participants to do manual update on all their nodes at about 7:30-8:00pm this Saturday and then at the same time the day contest stops... that way everyone gets max tickets to start with and max when they finish...

I'm definitely going to bring about 20 rigs on Nov. 1.

2nd place sounds good, but why not 1st place?
