haven't tried dual sticks yet (not dual channel since DFI NF3 250Gb is single channel board) but i suspect they're lower max ocs as always

Well I ended up buying the PQI. Don't have a working board to test, but from past buyers and what I can see w/o taking off the spreaders, it has all the marks of a winner. TCCD Rev.F & BP PCB Rev.808.

Wicked, unless I missed something, this is the first I heard that PQI is using the The Brain Power 808. The legit review showed the 808-but I don't recall them saying it was PQI or OCZ.

That's a good confirmation for 808.

Kanati-Look at the pictures at the bottom of page 4 of this thread. They should be clearly numbered. If not numbered, the 808's appear to have much broader (ie more solder) traces.

Whether 808's perform better is speculative/subjective.

This may all be moot depending on how these new Centon pcb's (courtesy of PC ICE) perform.

Hey guys this is Nathan Kirsch over at Legit Reviews and I wrote the memory PCB article a few weeks back (Article Link). Some of you have been e-mailing me asking what modules use what PCB's, so let me give you some models and numbers...

PQI Turbo Memory 3200 (PQI3200-512SBU) --> Brainpower 808
PQI Turbo Memory 3200 (PQI3200-1024DPU) --> Brainpower 815
PQI Turbo Memory 4000 (PQI4000-1024DBL) --> Brainpower 815
OCZ Platinum Rev 2 3200 (OCZ4001024ELDCPER2-K) --> BrainPower 808
Corsair XMS XL 4400C2.5 (CMX512-4400C25PT) --> Brainpower 815
Corsair XMS XL 3200 (CMX512-3200) --> Brainpower 815

Below is a picture of the two most common Brainpower PCB's side by side. As you can tell the differences can be seen even if the heat spreader was left on.



On a side note I talked with the owner of OCZ (ryan) yesterday and he said that OCZ is also using BrainPower 808a PCB's and they are regular height, so keep an eye out for those coming in the market. As noted in this thread BP PCB's are a bit shorter, but not on the new 808a PCB's. I also talked with Corsair Memory and they confirmed that they are going to start making all their XL modules on BrainPower 815 PCB's, so expect Corsair XMS XL PC-3200 modules to have BP 815's in the next few weeks just like the Corsair XMS 4400C25's have them now.

Forum member, PC Ice, is in the process of testing some Centon TCCD modules that look new. Pictures are posted a page or 2 back in this thread. I am wondering if these may be the 808a pcb?

You have also clarified some of the PQI mystery on the differences between SBU (I assume DBU would be 808 as well) and DPU. Very helpful-thanks again.

Furthermore, given Nathan's tests were in dual channel, and PQI's SBU suffix represents a single stick, one might tentatively conclude that Nathan used the PQI DPU which is 815 PCB. And given that the OCZ was an 808 PCB, we may have empirical evidence that the 808 performs better at tighter timings and the 815 offers more bandwidth at looser timings.

If this is correct, the PQI SBU/DBU sticks are looking very good for the price if you want tight timing performance.

You are on the right track with your thoughts! I agree that from the BrainPower modules that I have (about 14 modules) that the 808 performs better at tighter timings and the 815 will offer higher bandwidth at looser timings.

After looking at those pictures, I'm almost certain my gig kit of PQI Turbo is based on the 815 PCB, which would make sense b/c they don't really care for tighter timings at high fsb.

Nahh.. those Centon boards are made by Centon themselves. THey are still in testing phase and are now being sold but only under Low Latency at 5-2-2-2.. not guaranteed to overclock but guaranteed to run at LL... although they have some results simlar to all other TCCD modules on the market... and these results have been very good.. PC Ice managed to have good results with them as well. Now they have some 437 TCCDs as well as some 431s that they'll be doing more testing on to see where these chips stand. Brainpower PCBs are also being tested to see if they fare better against the Centon made 546G board.

I have just bought a pair of Cosair XMS3200 TwinX. Model is XMS3208v1.1, they are also using the same 0431 "F" TCCDs but the PCB is not brainpowered design. It also hit 300MHz 2.5-4-3-10 1T @ 2.85V on my MSI K8N Neo2. I also had a pair of PDP3200 using the same chips and Brainpowered 815 PCB. It also hit the same speed. The Corsair is a little interesting in that its actualy a double sided RAM (similar to their Value Winbond BH-5 sold couple of years back). Performance wise, both are literally identical.

Btw, the 815 PCB looks very similar to the Corsair Valueselect. Almost though both are the same.

I am not sure abt that though. I tried modding my K8N Neo2 to 3.3V but both my Corsair and PDP don't seems to work very well and both are the same 0431 'F' chips. Maybe its due to my board though

I just saw the pictures of the Centon Advance and I believe both are my Corsair and the Centon are using the same PCB. Even the resistor layout below the RAM chips are the same. Just that the Corsair has a little more (the Centon has couple of empty solder bumps). Eg. For RN7 and R4 (1st pic from the left), the Centon one is empty bumps but Corsair has 220 (2.2 ohms?) resistors on them.
