Well can I get one screenshot of that kind, but showing the chipset info in the white space instead of those MB/s infos?!?

Because that seems a little bit of the road for an AMD system...

Now, I'm only using an ATI Xpert but I had NO tearing with this board. On my 8K3A, I ended up using an old PCI graphics card because anything over 204-205MHz would tear and when you got over 210MHz you almost couldn't read the BIOS screens.

I think I had it set for 1x or 2x too, but I'll have to check.

    @Raptor: The newest from Oct. 25, 2002.

@TodB: I'll get a screeny with more important info. this evening for you.

@tweaky: I already had this chip in my 8K3A and closed the 5th bridge of L3. I think this board will work without it because I have access to all of the multiplier BUT it thinks my stock multi is 7x(which I'm pretty sure is because of L3). I may test this out by removing the connection but I'm happy right now.

@NoStra: They are pretty much maxed!

The Corsair is at 3.2V and is benefitting from having ducted cold air blown at 84cfm on the MCX462+T. I should also mention that the chipset heatsink benefits from this too. This heat sink is pretty cool btw. Epox has a swanky spring loading system and they actually use thermal compound.

[edit]Just wanted to add that from what I've read, the 8K9A is NOT the same board and shouldn't be expected to perform like the 2A+/3A+. I can't confirm this, it's just what I've read.[/edit]

This one is only at 230MHz, but it should have the info you need.

I'm not really a 3DMark person. I burned it in with some Prime95 and it's now running SETI@home at 220MHz since I loose the onboard LAN between 220-225. I also had to step the drive down to PIO around this time too because it wouldn't boot as DMA any longer.

I don't mean to thread crap here but with fsb at 230mhz your pci/agp would be running at 46mhz and 184mhz respectively... you don't have problems with your peripherals? What is the highest fsb that's safe for HD's.

The BIOS says AGP/PCI = 94/47 at 235MHz but I'm a cruncher. I don't have anything hooked up to this except a video card and I have the serial, parallel, usb, etc. all disabled in BIOS.

For what I use this computer for, it's perfect(for me). I'm sure if you put a bunch of components on this thing you'd be limited in your FSB but like I said, I'm a cruncher so I don't need anything else... except maybe a 1/6th divider.

Ok, I had it on 1x last night but I just changed to 4x in the BIOS and there is still NO tearing. Looks like they fixed whatever needed fixin'.

I also realized that 233 is my 100% stable setting. I can run Prime95 at 235 for an hour but you can just feel the system instability. It may have something to do with the PCI bus being completely out of whack though, I'm not convinced it's the memory poopin' out.

Uh, no. Thanks for the thought, but Corsair and especially Epox deserve the credit for the 3600 score. When I bought this board I was just hoping for 3400... 3500 was a dream... and 3600 I never even considered. Awesome work Epox!

(just needs a 1/6th divider or some way of controlling the AGP/PCI bus and I'd consider the board perfect)

Jeff, looks like a good board there!

Have you another agp card around to test? What i am after is to see if Radeon 9700 craps out at 200 as it does on Abit KD7.

What voltage options is it on that board/bios? Does Tbreds need to be unlocked on that board (to be able to choose multi)?

What kind of system/cpu temps do you have? Again, referring to the outrageous temps on Abit´s model.

    TIA!

Over at AOA, an Epox Tech said that the 8K9A is definitely not to be confused with the 8K9A2+. Take that for what it's worth but I would not want to be the one to find out what he's talking about. Now the 8K9A2 may be similar enough to act the same, kind of like the 8K3A+ and the 8K3A.

Yea, I wish they'd explain the whole A, A2, A2+ deal fully. I mean, its obvious that the A's PCB is quite different...but the A2 & A2+'s look nearly the same save some added features. I'd buy an 8K9A if I thought I had a chance of havin the time to play w/ the dern thing...just to see how different it is...but I know I won't have the time to do all the things I already got lined up for myself let alone play w/ a board that EPoX doesn't really care to tell ya much about

Sorry, no decent AGP card to speak of around here. If anybody here is close to Binghamton, NY and wants to test it out(at thier own equipment's risk), I'd be happy to let them.

Voltage options are Vdimm up to 3.2V and Vcore up to 2.0V. I haven't looked to see if a similar Vcore mod. could be done like on the 8KHA/+ but I assume it could.

Unlocking is still a question. I had my XP2400+ in an 8K3A before this so I needed to close the 5th L3 bridge. I didn't clean that off before I used it in this board but I do have access to ALL multipliers. My thought is that it doesn't require this to be done. Maybe I'll clean off the bridge sometime to see(or probably someone else will try it before I do).

Temperature seems ok. I'm a bit that Epox went away from letting the internal diode temperature be directly used. I've read elsewhere that the BIOS actually does read it and then "converts" it to a temperature people are more used to dealing with. For those who freaked out about seeing their cores actual(or close to it) temperature... congrats... you won.
