    how to set up D²OL

    1. download the agent: windows linux mac osX solaris

    2. install the agent and register it by entering your email address into the window that pops up after installation.

    3. create an account here and check out the teams here and join the team of your preferance by clicking the join button.

(4.) check out the D²OL tweaking guide here to tweak your client and fold harder

(5.) check out this thread about a script that installs D²OL as a service on your system. this means D²OL will run in the background of your system and start with windows and run basically invisible in the background

    .:EDIT:. Rodzilla
    Install TIP
If you are having problems installing and get a blank screen like THIS

You need to disable forced AA/AF.

Since Cat 4.9 there is a bug, very nasty. Everytime I got to do some Java stuff on my pc, I got to change the driver settings.
    ---
Attempting to play a Java based game or visit a Java based website results in display corruption under Windows XP when either an ATI RADEON 9800 SE or RADEONâ„¢ X800 XT Platinum card installed and AA is enabled. Further information on this issue can be found at: http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4570.html
    ---
Oh and same problem hapens with a X800Pro too. I can personally confirm that

now your ready to fold and cure diseases

if you have any questions or problems just make a new thread and ask for help

    too mainstream?

doesnt that go against the edict that the more popular you are the harder you have to work to please?

Maybe you mean they are too unknown as of yet?

First of all i wanna make clear i'm not trying to come of as i'm putting down folding or against it in any way i'm just new to this is all

Got a few questions if you don't mind.

    1. Does the results from folding benefit people in any real world way as in do we have proof that the results have done something?

    2. Is there a goal to achieve other than being #1 team on folding?

    3. how fast of a pc do you have to have in order to do it and what's the cpu load like.

    Again thanks for the input.

    1. One day all this folding will prove useful as we do not have vaccines yet but after folding and computing all this data hopefully one day we will. Its a long and on going process that may take years but if its worth a cure, Ill do it. Dont expect a cure right away.

    2. The goal is to create vaccines for infectious diseases.
http://www.d2ol.com will answer alot of stuff.

    3. Any PC can run this program, it uses 100% cpu but runs at low priority. If you have to do something D2OL will take a back seat. Just a pointer its better to run it minimized in the taskbar. When opened 80% goes to the program and 20% goes to the java applet running it. Minimized 100% will go to the program.

    Hope this helps.

stats get updated every 6 hours afaik.
check out the D²OL sig thread or pm ps2pcgamer or blergo

and you should all use D²OL daddy as mentioned in the D²OL tweaking guide
it sets the priority of D²OL to a lower priority wich will mean you wont feel D²OL running at all, no matter what your doing

btw, i was benching Q3A with D²OL running and then realized i had forgot to turn it off, and the difference was just 1 or 2 fps in the timedemo1 !

so you dont need to shut it down when gaming or stressing your cpu/system with anything else

EDIT: whoohooo the sig works again!

If they use the community account installers every step but step one is already done for them (Step 1. would be to install using the easy installer )

Is either Dockwin.exe or Gridwin.exe running when you pull up the task manager?

What speed is the computer? My 850MHz Celeron notebook sits Docking for a while before it starts conforming.

Yea its so hard talking to the computer illiterat. He cant get into his running processes in task manager, nor does he know the speed of his computer he said pentium something...lol. Do you need to restart for D2OL to work? cause he hasnt tried that yet.

Nope, it should start working right after you install it.

If he's running a P1 or P2 or slow P3... he could just be running into what I was saying. If it's a fast P3 or a P4... something else could be happening. (yeah, you can say "NO SH$T JEFF")

rodzilla's package runs as a service which means you dont see it unless you look at task manager if i'm not mistaken?

the "C:\XS_D2OL" folder has a file in it called "XS_D2OL Uninstall.bat". Running this stops the services and removes them. You can then go to the add/remove programs in the control panel. You should see "D2OL1" That will uninstall the D2OL program.

    What OS is he running?

So you created an account... installed the Agent(s)... Good!

As long as you have an account, joined the XtremeSystems Team, and your Agents are running (You CPU is running at 100%) then you are all set!!!!!
