    1st chiller made..need help ;p

    -using a 1/6 rotary r12 compressor.
    -running r22 in it...
    -watercooled coiled condensor
    -1/4" copper tubing as evap....
    -5.5 feet of 0.0026 captube
    -water temp after few hours 1.+ c..
    -if my temp probe is stuck in a ice in the chiller res...temp probe shows -25c



    anything ive done wrong?...captube 2 long?

    Use anti-freeze. Water can't get colder than 0c under normal surcomstances.
    The ice CAN get colder so there the temperature is lower.

    Antifreeze isn't the best thing to use i'd go with a methanol/water mix. In fact that's what I used in my chiller. I flows great at low temps I had it down to -40.7c with no slushing. Can't do that with antifreeze.

    uhh? a typical antifreeze rating is -67c? in fact i have two diff brands ones 50/50 other is pure, 50/50 = -35c 100% = -67c ....indeed.

    A glycol based antifreeze gets very viscous. Like sunflower oil .

    It might not get slushy but like Epsilon it is ratehr viscous. Which hurts you flow rate, though at low temps it's not a big concern.

    this is how my chiller looks like
    will post up pics of the temp later
    went down to -40 lowest...
    but stays at -33 to -35c most of the time
    still using tap water..lol
    havent got myself the antifreeze yet

    Condenser cooled by oxydian.. interesting

    What about temperature of water? What is kinda of watercooler's radiator's
    cooler, 12x12x2.5 or something?

    i made a spiral condensor...den its cooled by a custom made radiator...
    here are some updates ....the temp probe suprised me when i turn it on...
    its not anti freeze + water inside..
    its pure tap water.... so everything is frosted and its ice in it....lol
