May I suggest making a compramise, drop the multi to 12 and push the FSB to 215. and tight the memory timing to 2326 That OCZ stuff should be able to pull it off. GL/HF

btw tictac I've been running 220x11 as my 24/7 clocks since flashing to the XT's and made it to windows @ 242x11 1.9vcore 2.7mem but shyte out on superpi. probably need a lil more juice on the mem. Once again Fanx for all the hard work.

Sancho, I started to get slight dips and flux in my vcore after installing my 6800gt with a Aspire 500w, but no instability. I wouldn't worry about 1.9+vcore unless your unsure of your cooling.

just a quick question.. in your bios notes you say "- CPU Disconnect Function Patch as Recomended by nVidia Tech"

alot of people say to turn off CPU disconnect function for NF7 because it causes instabilities.. does this mean with your bios i can leave it on and it wont cause problems? or that you have disabled it in your bios?

yes i did patch the register on the bios as recomended by nVidia tech... posted in linux forums..

you can enable or disable it... 6E oofset data change to 01

I'm still running on D26 Manta Rays xt cpc on bios... with cpu disconnect function enable @ 230MHz FSB 1:1...
    no problem with it...

just wondering if anyone could offer me some advice

i have just succesfully done a vdimm mod on my nf7 rev2 and can now use 3.2v

previously i was running everyday (prime stable) at 10.5x213fsb 2.5-3-3-11 2.9v and everything is fine

however now that i have done vdimm mod i have tried going higher using 3.2v, but it seems that even with the extra voltage i can't get any higher FSB.. (prime fails after 3 mins at 220fsb same timings.. same deal with 217fsb)

could this mean that my NB is maxed out? i have 1.7v chipset voltage atm (max in bios)

    any help appreciated, thx

thought i'd add that im using 2x512 modules

one is kingsotn pc2700 valueram and the other is corsair xms bh6.. i've only just recently added the 512 corsair ram so i havn't really tested it's max yet, can probably go higher with just the corsair stick in but im in love with 1gb ram now

i heard somewhere that for 2x512 doublesided modules that it is necessary to use CPC off bios to attain high FSB.. do you think this could be my problem? i'm using d26 mantaray XT CPC on atm

yes, use the cpc off version

and perhaps mod chipset voltage aswell, someone on an other forum maxed out at ~220 fsb, did a Vdd mod and now can run @ 260 fsb. I'm not saying that will help you gain 40fsb, I'm saying that it might

A vdd mod in my case increased max fsb from 223 to 243 and testing.

I checked vdd voltage with DMM and got 1.745 ate 1.7 in bios. After mod i set it at 1.85. I even tried up to 1.96 but, higher then 1.85 got me erros in memtest.

Using your D26 Manta Rays XT Bios I'm able to achive this :banana4:
    VDimm: 2,9V
    Vdd: ~1,85V
    +3,3V: ~3,6V
    +5V: ~5,3V
    +12V: ~12,3V
    CPC: on
    CPU Interface: enabled
    2500_superPI

Before flashing to your Bios the highest FSB I could get SuperPI stable was 235Mhz...so this is just insane
Is it possible that you add an option to switch on/off the Manta Rays bootlogo?
    Thank You!!
Welcome to the sickness, my friend

Nice results with an nf7 there

Wie got one 10kohm variable resistor and one 1kohm variable resistor last week. On Monday I'll try do a VDD and VDIMM mod on the board.

Anyone who has done any of these modifications and has some general advice on how to do it? Wish me luck. I'll need it....

Highest FSB right now's 247, 244 benchable in cpumark but far form stable. You don't get very far with air cooling.

I did the vdd mod and will share my experience.

I did the mod with a 5k ohm VR.

I inicially checked the vdd with a Digital Multimeter (DMM) in the board while setting the vdd in bios to it's maximum (we all know it's 1.7). It gave me a very stable 1.745v.

I then installed the vdd mod and jumped to 1.96v (i have watercooling in my system).

By doing so i was able to jump from a max of 223 to 246 but was not stable in memtest+ 1.25 whatever the timmings i had in my memmories.

After a few days of scracthing my head i found out that a vdd voltage too high is not good for OC (at least in my board).

I then started reducing the vdd voltage from 1.96->1.90->1.85.

When i got to 1.85 i started to achieve stability with agressive timmings. I could post at 246 but it was not stable even at 240, but when i reduced the vdd to 1.85v i was able to set fsb at 241 with 2.5-2-2-11@2.85v completly stable.

I know it's not 246 but i´m still testing and since i reduced the vdd voltage i started back from 240 (2 days ago). I'm now at 241 with the timmings specified above.

From what i understood the chipset needs more voltage then 1.745 to get over the ~220 wall that most nf7-s have. But on the other hand it does not like vdd voltages above 1.85 either and, in my board, looks to be the sweet spot to getting high FSB (in my machine) with pretty agressive timmings@ low vdimm voltages.

Hope this gives you a bit of help on your OC quest. I´ll keep you guys posted on my own OC quest.

Golias : Great reading Thanx! I'm going down to check my VDD ASAP. I hope I don't kill the board in the atempt. My timings @ 245 was 2-2-2-6 although with only one stick of 256mb Corsair BH-6 2,9V but I think it was a little bit unstable. Thanks again and good luck with your own quest cheers!

I take a long time to test stability because:

1 - The mems are brand new and i´m burning them in.

2 - I always test stability first with memtest+ 1.25 for 9-12 hours, then SuperPi 4M, then SuperPrime95 (in blend mode) for another 9-12 hours and finally do 50 loops of 3DMark.

3 - Every time i change something in bios, i repeat the testing procedure. There is no way i will get an unstable machine with this procedure.

I'd just like to report that my 45W 2400 Mobile is now properly recognized, and I now have access to the 10.X multipliers, which were previously unavailable with the D26 BIOS from Abit.
It was a bit unstable at 2.2GHz, and messing with the FSB caused other stability problems for some reason. It's been doing 2.1GHz for over a day and a half now, with no problems.
Who knows, maybe with this new BIOS, it will be able to do 2.2GHz or higher without crashing.
Thanks a bunch for this BIOS!

    I don't suppose there's a modded BIOS for the rev1.2 boards?

I just did a fresh install of windows, and was about to start trying these bios's out, but then my comp started giving me problems.

Mbm won't open, it errors every time. It is installed, and the config wizzard was successfully won, but when i open mbm the mbm splash screen appears, but then it either freezes or an error message pops up behind it. I then went and got the winbond monitor, and it started a siren right away reporting the vcc @ 3.04v. What is the vcc, and is this too high, and where on the mobo can i measure it?

My nf7 and barton 2400 are acting very weird. I was unable to run 9*200 stable with 1.8v, but I can prime 210*12.5 with the same. It seems like any multi below 12.5 is terribly unstable. I don't know what is going on, but I am losing my mind.

The reason i reinstalled windows was because I could not use clockgen. Whenever I would apply settings the machine would just reboot, and 3dmark refused to run no matter what I did. At first it seemed as though the fresh windows install had taken care of everything, but it appears I was wrong.

Any help would be much appreciated. I want to try out some of these new bios's, but I don't want to go flashing my bios with an unstable mobo.

I am not running any other monitoring stuff, and I am using abit's stock 17. I am pretty sure it is stable now even though I still can't get mbm working. I think this processor just realy sucks with lower multi's, being that the higher the multi the higher the fsb I seem to be able to get up to 12.5x. I am going to jump to some of the modded bios's tomorrow. I guess I will start with Merlin's d26 manta ray cpc off and try out as many as I can from there.

On a side note my 12v rail is a little weak, and that should get cleared up when my ocz powerstream 520w gets here. For $70 new I couldn't resist
