    Talking New epox mobo!

    Well I got some very cool mail today.... an Epox 8k5a2+

    I had some concerns about the motherboard RMA's to me by the vendor after my original Epox 8k3a+ died. The original version was a 1.02 and the replacement was a 1.01.

    Well to make a long story short was unable to provide a rev.1.02 motherboard and their supply replaced the 8k3a+ with a 8k5a2+!

    This is awesome... now I've got onboard LAN, USB 2.0, lower temperatures and better overclocking.

    Below are the results at the default voltage for my 1600+

    I had a crash while playing ut2003 so I increased the vcore in the bios to 1.775... mbm is reporting 1.80v+ which is much better than the previous board which was consistantly 0.05v low.

    Oh ya, check those temps after about 2hrs of idle.

    well I've hit the wall with the current setup... I went as high as 1.95v and just can't do 1900MHz (which was my goal).... here are results so far with AMD chips:

    600 duron @ 936 --> +363mhz
    1000 t-bird @ 1539 --> + 539mhz
    1600+ @ 1833--> +433mhz

    on a stock multi correct?

    Edit: nevermind, try decreasing the multi to 10 or 9.5 and increase the FSB more

    Just gave some FSB a shot... man this is nice, I got all kinds of AGP tearing with the old board and none with this board... and I'm only using Corsair 2700

    your temps are lower because the epox 8k5a2+ doesn't read the internal temp diode, it uses the temp diode only for shutting down the cpu if it gets too hot.
    the 8k3a+ reads out the temp diode and this is the reason for higher temps on your 8k3a+.
