My 3.4EE ES hates voltage!

Yes, I know it's weird but INCREASING the voltage actually decreases the stability. I am running at 3.75Ghz (15x250Mhz) right now on stock volts (1.575-1.600V).

no....i don't. I try to make my designs as aesthetically pleasing as possible...

i need to get some A/C. I live in Washington state so noone has A/C here. But ambient is 25-30C in the summer.

not all P4 EE ES samples oc that well, i heard a few 3.2EE ES not oc'ing past 3.3ghz heh

well those are engineering samples, some of them are very early silicon...

I don't thing that it's because of cooling! It's unlucky sample IMHO!
But maybe, maybe! Try to get colder temps!

Like I said before...I am really looking at TECs now. I'm not sure if I want to put my VC in the loop though so I may be going back to regular aircooling from my 9800. I would like to run a dedicated loop for the CPU TEC of just the Eheim 1250 and the 120x2 rad I have. I am pushing plenty of air...I just need to get one of those Swiftech MCW5002-PT blocks in there now. This is going to be a big project for me. I hate the idea of tearing apart my current setup....I had it just the way I liked it. Oh, well.

Tecs are really a waste of money and power. Plus they are sometimes dangerous. I'd try some dry ice or phase change.

Those are a little too extreme for me right now. I have a good watercooling setup and would like to see where I can take it with a TEC or two.

I just ordered a Meanwell S320-12 and a relay kit. I will get those connected this week and then look into getting the cpu block with TEC and some new 1/2" tubing.

Should I run just the CPU or can I pelt the GPU too? I have a 9800 Pro and will be moving to the X800 XT PE. Current pump is an Eheim 1250, rad is a Thermochill HE120.2 with 2x120mm Delta fans pushing ~300CFM total.

im not sure that pelts with get you very cold because the P4EEs produce a lot of heat because of the extra cache,

pelts become a waste because as u go higher u end up spending hundreds on power supplies, and those hundreds could have bought u the parts for a mach1, or a DIY direct die cooler

i thought deltas only pushed about 108cfm. how do you get 300cfm out of the both of them? or is it not added that way?

Yeah, you could say it's a little hot. New best...this is as far as I can push it until I get that pelt setup completed. Ambient is 30C and this is with an Abit board so temps might be reported a little high.

Those EE's need massive cooling to run well. My 3.2EE could hardly reach 3.5 Ghz on the retailcooler, I couldtn't get even 220 Mhz fsb Prime stable.... Adding more voltage only increased the problem.

With the Mach II I could get 246 Mhz fsb prime stable, 250 would BSOD on me after ~10 mins. With the Mach II GT, running dual prime torture @ 250 Mhz is a breeze. Same voltage as with the regular Mach II, just rock stable. It's ALL about the temps, at least it is with my particular EE.

I have been wanting to try out a newer 8-layer 3.4EE, maybe a regular retail cpu is a better bet than a 3.4EE ES of "older" origin....

Sounds like a plan LarsK. I'm going to give the pelts a try though. I have already bought a first round of new hardware and will be working on converting the system this next week or so. My goal is 14x275 (3.85Ghz) 1:1 with my BH-5. Anything over that is gravy. I think I have a shot.

My EE overclocks pretty amazingly on stock cooler. 3.8GhZ with idle temp at 40C and load at 45-50C. Stable and can run Prime95 torture test at 50C max.

That is very nice. What are the specs and pack date on that sucker? And how does it do in the Mach II?

I'm hoping to find a 3.4EE that'll do ~4.3 Ghz prime stable. Yours sounds like it might

Don't have a clue on pack date since I can't be arsed to remove HSF atm. I will look later. Yes, I reckon it will do 4.3GhZ fine, not sure about prime stable though, could be though.
