Is it just me or are there only 8 owners of X800Pro VIVO cards??

Hope I'm not asking too much for replies with manfacturer details...

So far, I know there's Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire cards.

C'mon guys, help us out in deciding which cards are the gems...

    Cheers to those who've replied...

Judging by the results, the VIVO are the ones to get imo.

11 out of 12 so far, beats the hell out of the hardmod way.

Especially here in OZ where the PowerColor VIVO versions are the same price as the "normal" version.

Maybe this will get ppl's attention as what to get...

    Cheers fellas.

Hope this helps would be buyers.

enabling the extra 4 pipes is what the vote is about, not XT clock speeds...

So now there are 2 votes for no, but nobody has posted their results ?

No telling. These cards are obviously failed X800XT's. They failed for a reason, which is why some of them are going to fail the bios flash.

I don't think any of them are actually 'failing' just not working at xt stock clocks. Not that that matters, because even downclocked the xt beats the pro.

If you vote fail, please post on the subject.

some are im sure. but not as many as are have'n problems at xt clocks. im sure a good chunk of the people not clocking to xt speeds have low voltage to there gpu like my card. did 517/570 at 12 pipes and 507/570 at 16 pipes. at 1.32vgpu, many pro's and all xt's ship with 1.4ish volts. my card did 520/560 perfectly stable at 1.36, and i can overclock to 540/570 on the GB bios with 1.41v. and its a simple mod.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying these aren't worth buying, I'm just saying that these cards were intended to be x800xtPE's, but for some reason were downgraded to pro's. This is why they have 1.6ns ram and why they have the vivo onboard. Some may have dammaged pipes. Also, from what I've read, they don't seem to oc as well as an XTPE or a pro. If that's the case they will probably be quicker in am3, 2k3, but maybe actuall slower in 2k1. still, I think they're a good deal and worth going for.

im not imply'n that you think there a bad card/bad deal. i just dont see this many x800xtpe's failing thats all.

Maybe true, but they do seem to be having trouble getting xtPEs to market and this is very similar to when saphire sold downgraded 9800xt's as 9800pro's 256mb. Anyway, its not worth worring about at this point

well if it were a problem with the cores they would be binned prior to final assembly. And wouldnt get 1.6ns gddr3 ect ect. hell under my powercolor x800pro sticker on the hsf is a x800xtpe sticker.

x800pro non vivo's also mod but require a hardmod. Ati laser cut the cores to disable the 4 pipelines so there x800xt's didnt loose value. Granted some of them dont work but the fact that they not all of them fail to mod seems to show that at the very least if a core is bad its more than likely to loose more than 4 pipelines than if it doesnt meet the clock speed at desired voltage. This is also the reason i believe we have not seen x800se's. if they were have'n problems with the cores these would be out allready. The reason the vivo's all softmod and have 1.6ns memory at this time is because all xtpe's have vivo. I dont think at this time in the x800 product cycle they can afford to take a x800pro line and convert it to make x800pro vivo's. But they could afford to take x800xtpe's that for whatever reason didnt pass spec add to it limited runs of perfect x800xtpe's to create some volume and softmod out 4 pipelines just like on the 9500np's and sell them as x800pro vivo's at a slight markup over the standard pro model. Up till a couple of weeks ago no one was spending the extra 30 bucks or so over a allready marked up x800pro just for vivo. So it took a while for these cards to sell. Now that there going out of stock there not come'n back in stock very quickly. I'll be willing to bet that once the current stock is out of these vivo's future vivo's will not be moddable other than the odd xtpe that doesnt pass spec after final assembly. In the grand scheme of things not many vivo's have been sold compared to the number of x800pro's that have been sold or the number of xtpe's that are ordered.

And i believe the reason some of the late 9800pro's came with r360 cores is because ati configured there r350 lines to r360 cores. If yeilds on the r360 were low there would be now way you would see a r360 core capable of doing 430+ on a $200 dollar card and it wouldnt make sence to stop production on r350 cores if that were the case. Then very very few R360 cores in 9800pro's would overclock worth a damn and it wassnt the case even tho they didnt overclock quite a far as the newer R350's due to process refinements. If yeilds were high it wouldnt make sence to keep 2 diffrent but essentialy the same cores in production at one time.

Just my personal theory on the subject.

Wow, you have a xtpe sticker under your pro sticker and you're stll arguing this. The vivo's don't have the laser cut of the pro's because that's how the xtpe cores get manufactured by ati. Ati sends them to saphire, powercolor, etc, who don't have the capabilty to alter the core once they have it and they assemble the cards. They test their xtpe's and maybe some are a little unstable at 520/560 or there's a flakey pipe. No worries, the pro only has 12 pipes and clocks at 475/500. They flash the card with the pro bios and sell it as a vivo.

You need to read the thread about saphire rebadging 9800xt's as pro's. They were indeed failed xt's and didn't clock as well. Some became unstable after flashing to xt, but they were identicle to 9800xt's, same core, same memory, same pcb. The pcb of a 9800xt and a 9800pro are different.

Either way, its still a good deal and worth getting.

Just installed the latest 4.7 officials & man that was bad...

With the 4.6's I noticed minor artifacting at 580-590 vpu/mem but now it's like as soon as I hit the "set clock" at 560/80 I get the worst artifacts ever...

    Anyone else with similar problems??

BTW, my VPU is like 25c (32c Celsius under load) so heat ain't a prob...

Oh well, might have to go back to the 4.6's... The 4.7's are better for 3D03 but hey, at least the 4.6's allow me to see the screen...
    Cheers,

That's what I did. Reverted back to the 4.6's & getting through 3D03 at 581/181 w/out any artifacts at all.

Can't beleive myself, had the card for over 4 days & haven't fully unleashed my rig...

    Running a pitiful 240fsb 1:1 w/ 1GB Ram 'cos I'm limited by ram & it don't like dividers....

Enuff of this, shutting down & getting my 2 x 256MB BH5's out...

    Back soon,

I have a Sapphire X800 Pro with TV-out I flashed the card but it thinks it has vivo and keeps locking up and corrupting windows when it installs is there anyway to flash it and keep it regular tv-out?
