Is a Vapochill LS on GPU waste of money ?

so....again me with my problem of buying a Vapor or not.....but now i've desided to put it on the GPU only (if i should buy one...)....my CPU would still be under the waterblock like now.....

so, i wanted to ask you, if a LS would be too much for the GPU ? or would be a SE more then enough ?

or are there REALLY significant oc-differences ?

hmhmmm....but the price-difference is high too......500€ for SE and at least 750€ for LS....cooling-unit only ofc.

are here any people who use a Vapochill (doesn't matter which one) on their GPU ?

Why the hell would you put it on your GPU and not CPU?

    i don't want to set SuperPI-records....but 3D-Performance-records

    so, there would be a GF6800U @ 550+ more helpful then a A64 @ 2,8GHz+

and btw - i mentioned already, that i've a waterblock for my CPU....that should be enough.....not extreme but enough

    ...when i win @ lottery i'll buy 2 Vapos, k ?

if your going for insane benching, just use LN2/DI. It will be a hell of a lot cheaper than an LS

oh yeah, dont forget about the cold throttling issue on 6800's

    no, i don't want lasy "yeah-i-can-just-bench-now-like-hell" i want a 24/7-benchable-system

i didn't read it already, but there is a thread in the vr-board about the throttle-problem.....and when it can't be cleared, i simply get a X800XT

I have run a mod slot1 vapochill on a Ti4600 in the past. It was a permanent setup up but I never run 24/7 anyway. Recently I have used a Vapo PE and that works well as long as the video card is verticle or as in my case inverted. Will probably use it again on my X800XT at some stage (should get it next week, but no hurry for the Vapo )
In your case an LS would work well and is alot better suited than a MachII. far easier to fit with a custom mounting. Condensation proofing would br the only concern, but for max performance some sacrifices must be made.

The LS wil give you way better then the SE thats for sure. And that by considering the wattage that 6800U puts. I whould not esitate, and go for the LS over the SE anytime. When spending money, spend it right

Keep in mind that 3dmark is fairly CPU limited with a 6800

24/7 use isn't recommended though (condensation all over the card)

A SE is enough btw. A refill will enhance performance.

@ Epsilon: i don't will refill anything....i can't it by myself and asking a few people who do that kinda job told me, that it's expensive.....and about condensation: i thought about that problem and want to try to to get it water-resistant with clear nail-finish (i don't know the right english calling for it - in german its "Nagellack").....it's di-electric....

@ rest: hmmm.....Prommy u say.....i've to look, where i still could get one....

and maybe OPP could tell me, how he took the condensation away of his card

I run a Vapo on the GPU, but you must remember, a CPU is easy to put under a load like just fold or run prime95, but it`s not easy to put a GPU under a load 24\7. So, keeping in mind that the VC will idle alot durring that 24 hrs I put a heater tape on both sides of the VC and run them at 100% with the back of the card covered with a layer of closed cell foam.
Is there alot to gain fron sub-zero temps of a VC?? Yes of course, but not as much as I thought there would be. If I were you, I`d consider moving your water block to the GPU and put the LS on the CPU, IMO the end results will be far greater then just adding a LS to the GPU.
The world`s only triple phase-changer PC in one case.
