2800+ or 3000+
Putting together an A64 upgrade on a bit of a budget. Given the choice, which would you take? If they're both newcastle cores, will they probably max out at the same overclock, or is the 3000+ going to give an advantage?

Being the low end i'd go with the 2800 if your getting a MB that can run high HTT.
Might as well save a couple bux don't you think?
-
id go with the 3000+, because it will have a higher multi
lets say you have ram that can do only 230. (with a budget, im guessing your not getting the best of the best ram, sooo...)
9 *230 = 2070.
10*230=2300..
i think that should settle it for ya.

I think he'll end up running a divider on the ram reguardless.
The mobile 2800+ A64 i want has an 8 multi but i doubt the CPU will have a problem hitting 2400MHz but i KNOW i'll have to run a divider on the ram.
Really depends on how high he wants to go.
Maybe something like 240x10 or 266x9. However that 10 multi would be a bit more versatile than 9.
Newcastles seem to clock pretty well.

which is why i suggested the 3000+.

I'm with pik-ard v1.1.
The 3000+ is far better!

My retail 2800+ is stuck to 2.4GHz@1.7v... even with my R507 Mach1 trying to push it.
I'd get a 3000+ if I were you... or... PM me and I'll give you a hell-of-a good deal on that 2800+.
