    Droop Mod for IS7-E, IC7, etc...

    hi,
    i using this mod for long time on my is7-e rev1.2.
    i picked up an ic7 and mod it too.
    the mod is not really needed, but... xtreme

    the mod works for the Intersil ISL6556B
    simply connect an vr 20k (or higher) between FB (12) and VDIFF (14)

    attention and findings:
    - bevore first boot up make sure the vr is turned to the max settings.
    - with lower resistance, droop is smaller but vcore rising... watch out...first slow an than faster and faster... turn slowly
    - on ic7 the mod works a bit better, load=idle is possibly, on is7-e the droop are smaller but not idle=load
    - the original (unmodded) droop on is7-e is higher as on ic7.
    - this mod worked not ok on max3.. read the posts..

    ... i can't find it on hipro5's aiw.

    hmmmm, I couldn't get my Trimmers to go exactly to 20k 18.9 I believe. How much overvolt you think that would do?

    Smile take it easy.

    18,9k makes a very small difference to 20k.
    on ic7, for idle=load my setting is around 5,0k
    i recommend 20k for save beginning, is7 and ic7 are not identical and have differences between board to board.

    turn it down and watch the vcore.
    for heavy load im using prime95 or burnk7 etc. or burnmax ...
    try an multimeter if you have, hw-doctor is not so correctly.

    20k 1.775v bios

    it droop a bit less than stock.
    adjust it for the best voltage.

    i'll add vcore caps, i think.

    20k 1.775v bios
    with 1,525v default setting ? ... raised up so much ?

    my ic7 is rev1.1, but difference should only be bigger nb-cooler.
    have here an rev1.0 too, but not modded yet... will try.

    So if I set 1.368V Vcore from bios, and I want it to stay there under load (zero droop), how big resistor do I need? I´m using IC7-Max3 mobo, and 3.2E prescott.

    100k ohm probably would be safe enough, for starters?

    i dont know about the max3.
    i think 5k could be the sweet spot for this board too.
    100k is to much, especially for this low setting 5k and finding the point.
    find it out for us, and keep us updated.
    but begin with the 100k, i made it also for trying the mod first.

    yes, it's for testing this 3.0C (sold now)

    i've also used an IC7 1.1, some mosfets change ( one used for the "5v rail vddr mod" ) and other perhaps ?

    i have no max3 and can only guess this ISL6556B-mod should working too.. sorry.
    any successfully mod working here ??

    LorD ClockaN, my setting for best working are
    - is7-e around 4 kohm
    - ic7- around 5 kohm
    i assume the sweet spot for the max3 is near ... but i dont really know..

    Yeah...I did this on a IC7-MAX3 but ended up removing it. It would raised Vcore while lowering the droop. Even with the lowest setting in the BIOS for Vcore I was not able to set the droop to a small value AND keep Vcore low. The correct answer is probably a set of VR's as this resistor is most likely part of a gain circuit and changing to the change the droop is also adjusting the Vcore gain.

    How much can you overcolt with this droop mod? If i get 1.65 vcore max. with prescott without the mod, for example?

    Anyone know how to make a mod for vcore with IC7-G?

    The Stilt gave me a tip to connect the 10th pin from the same chip as mentioned in this thread to ground through a 50kohms trimmer, but it only ended up booting the board as I connected the ATX-cable.

    Need more vcore, help, anyone?

    Just did the mod and it increased vcore 0,1-0,15 volts

    It looks like this mod would work for the DFI LanParty 875 Boards as well, because they use the same vreg, ill give it a try sometime.

    Seems like nobody really knows a VCORE mod for this board Glad the droopmod slightly increases vcore.

    Because the best I can get out of the board for my 2.8A is 1,65V, and it need something like 1,75 V for optimal performance with LN2 Anyway, I now know how to do the mod..

    First of all , I don't measure drop on the VCore of the IC7 series mobos......

    EVEN at 2.1VCore when I measure with a multimeter - let the Winbond hardware monitor indicates what it wants(that's totaly faulse) - I found in Idle and at full load , NO DROP at all......

    Now in case that someone wants the VCore mod of the IC7 series go H E R E........
