    Lightbulb choosing a PSU

    hi there all,
i'm looking for a REAL PSU, something powerful! to replace my crappy no name one.
now, since it's hard/expensive to get the Enermax 600W i dream of, i think i'm going the ANTEC's. probably the 550W. so what do you say? & does it worth it, to get the True Control version?!

The best stock PSU you can get is the PCPNP 510. If you want to save like 50$ you could get the antec truecontrol 550 watt, but the rails wont be anywhere near as stable.

I think True Control means that it has external pots for adjusting the rails. It's a good PSU, but not as good as the PCPNC PSU.

I would get a Fortron 530w, unless you wanna spend the money on a PC Power and Cooling (for instance the 510 that craig suggested).

The True Control simply has extrenal pots. The Fortron and PC Power and Cooling both have internal pots should you need to adjust.

    hmmm

I concur, have had them all. PC P+C is #1, the Fortron 530 is #2, and SuperFlower 550 is #3..... I wish they would implement the 120mm fan setup on the Fortron that they use on the 350W model, thats my only desire. $250, $80, $80.... take your pick.

I use the Superflower for DFI (no 3.3V rail pot) and the Fortron for NF7-S use because the Vdimm mod needs 3.3V rail increased.

if you dont intend putting in a Papst/Panaflo in the Superflower, get the 140mm fan model, it is plenty quiet for normal users and moves GOOD air.

Both are friggin BATTLESHIPS. I cant tell you how many 380W Antec's my friends/family have BLOWN UP ;-)

Well, for many time I've thought that the TC550 was de best PSU out there, but I see that many people don't like it.

I want to buy a new PSU to replace my Antec 430, but I don't know which one of these:
    - Antec TrueControl 550
    - Enermax Noisetaker 470
    - Fortron 530

i would get the fortron 530. i bought mine a month ago and opened it up and adjust the rails to 3.6 12.5 and 5.5 with ease. took a matter of minutes. rock stable voltages can't ask for more. buy it at the egg for like $80.
