It seems from what I have gathered skimming over these post that the Gecubes are clocking really nicely, PwrClr is meadiocore, and that the Saphires are not all that great clockers? If I am wrong please let me know as Im going to purchase really soon!

Would you take the powercolor over a saphire vivo?

Hmm, When I look at my profile i see my real E-mail address.

Btw, I sent you a PM at Amdmb, but for the benefit of everyone, did you see an overclocking improvement by going back to the Pro bios? I'm still using the Ati XT-PE bios right now.

atitool will back-up your original bios. Under settings, misc, there is an option to dump bios. That will give you a back-up of whatever bios your on.

If I get a Sapphire x800 pro vivo as of 8/6/04, what are my chances that it will work? A lot less than a month ago? Two?

I dunno, but it's worth the try... the card is darn fast anyway: I got 10k with 3dm03pro right after I installed it, everything stock. Now Im getting around 12k I ordered the 3200xlpro memory so when I finally can get rid of this 333 sh*t, Ill get even higher, especially 3dm01.

    cheers,

As of right now, it looks like the Gigabyte x800Pros w/ViVo are turning out to have the highest success rate. It also seems to me after reading through several threads that a lot of the Gigabyte x800Pro cards arrive with 16 pipes enabled out of the box.
    Less is more.

I was just reading all this, MY HEAD HURTS!!!

OK as far as I know. VIVO cards can be modded. the reason that card is unstable is that a diode IS locking out the voltages that are needed.
Some people say hard mod is not needed (which its not if your limiting the speeds) Guess no one wants that! so two mods are required.
    1> Bios
2> Pins in upper right side (left side contact)
    3> voltage modulator.
    well make it 3 then..

The voltage modulator isnt so clear on the images i have seen, so it a "AYOR"
try looking here http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/...800-3.html#p10 sorry about the mid dump I just kept that page for reference.

I just got the connected 3D card, It seams clear now when reading the GPU's numbers. the re are 410, 410,410,413 chips that seam to be clockable. I have a 424, so we will see if that ring true there is no laser cut on this card. Card failed to open the 16 pipe but shows as a X800 XT PE, the clock speeds are set as such, but I cannot unlock the 4 pipe,
I could see if there was a laser cut, but it didnt look like it. unless its hidden?? anyone!
