It's no breakthrough to overclock your card

    More Voltage -> Volt Mod

A bios won't be able to give you more or less voltage.

It will change the timing of your ram, so you might get an increased o/c there.

Best ocing tool imo: Radlinker. Get it here: http://www28.brinkster.com/chrisww1942/
You can have settings for every single game with this thingy!
If you don't know how to do this, don't ask here, this is not the right thread.
ATITool is also really great, very useful for finding your max settings. Also has 2D/3D profiles.
I personally used a combination of ATITool / Radlinker till now on my 9700np (vmodded @437/351!!).

Forget about RedLine, Radlinker and ATITool are what you want!

    Back to Topic:
many people can't overclock their card as high with 16 pipes as they did with 12 pipes.
Some people could reach their 12-pipe-max minus 5 mhz, others only 12-pipe-max minus 30 mhz.

Not something really to care about.

I ran 4 UT2004 demos and 7 FarCry demos. It also passes 3DMark..

    GPU: 486
    MEM: 526

Gonna see how things work out.

Please, if you can help me on any of the things in my previous post let me know

What do you want me to write into a tutorial???

Download the Gigabyte XT Bios, then flash it like this:
    gvf11 -p R80X256V_filename.F1

If it won't flash with -p you need to force it:
    gvf11 R80X256V_filename.F1 -f

    Done!
That's ALL you need to do.

    If you don't want to install your card as a Gigabyte XT you might also backup your old bios and flash it over the Gigabyte bios;
this won't disable 16 pipes again, because flashrom doesn't overwrite everything.
    Here you go:

    Backup BIOS:
    flashrom -s 0 backup.bin

    Gigabyte XT BIOS:
    gvf11 -p R80X256V_filename.F1
    or
    gvf11 R80X256V_filename.F1 -f

    Re-Flash your backup:
    flashrom -p 0 backup.bin

    Done.
Instead of your backup you're also able to use the Sapphire X800 XT bios, for example.

You need flashrom 2.37 to do this.

omg, just saw Marshy whining over at oc.co.uk...
his card worked with like over 580 Mhz core with 12 pipes, with 16 pipes it's only able to work stable at 475 till now.
Now he has got 1000 3DMarks fewer than he had before with 16 pipes.
I won't register there, so please Marshy, look here:
    http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/radeon/rx800-3.html

    Let's look at those Half-Life 2 scores:
the Pro @16 pipes @ 475/450 is only <10% slower compared to the 16 pipes @ 525/575 score.

In older games the 16 pipes won't come in handy, there you need only bandwidth, bandwidth, bandwith. This is only provided by a higher mem-speed.
New games won't be bandwith limited so the 16 pipes will get very useful, even if the mem isn't clocking as high as beforce.

Appreciated..... But Marshy is at "overclockers".... He wants to puch his system to the limits, and he's a little disappointed with the outcome. TBH, its much brighter than it was at 5pm... He had a doorstop then...

Legionar I am comfortable and confident to do this. Geez when it was found out that scan was shipping 9800 Pros with XT E360 cores I was one of the first on Hexus to do it as soon as my card arrived...

What I actually meant was with links to the BIOSes etc so it is all in one place...

    i did it too!

Hi, I`m new here (and I understand polish . I`ve managed to modify my Sapphire vivo as well, and have same problem with freq... maybe additional cooling on memory modules could fix the problem? what ya think? oh btw - while running 3d apps i didn`t mark my fan rotating faster than usual, despite of markably higher temp of GPU (fan spins with very high speed only for 3 secs when i boot comp). Could u guys share your experiences?

I'm interested in this aswell. It looks like my card hates OC'ing after the flash. :o

I have it running at plain Pro speeds now

    BIOS trick works w/ Connect3D X800Pro VIVO model (1.6ns).
    Runs 3DMark03 at 520/600 with 16pipes.
Flashed w/ Gigabyte bios and then with ATI X800XT BIOS. Driver CAT 4.5 Beta

    edit: make that 2 x Connect3D X800Pro VIVO @16pipes
mate put one of these bios modded Pro VIVOs in his rig (4.2G P4E) and scored a nice 13.1k at default XT clocks w/ CAT 4.6

Got another Sapphire VIVO, all perfect with it too

About the core speed after the XT mod - I lost around 10MHz (540MHz -> 530MHz) on the core, something like that... I think the Vcore of the GPU is lower for the Pro version... crank it up

Another thing - the heat.... @16 pipes the card is heating like a MoFo....

    Hi guys
this is the first time i've posted here at xtreme systems and I have to say it has got some great information. I live in Australia and yesterday bought myself a Powercolour x800 pro and to my amazement it had the XT mem and core (stoked).

So after a bit of research I jumped in and flashed to the gigabyte bios that you guys are raving about and it all worked now I have 16 pipes working

    Thanks heaps guys

    Now for some benchies
