    Hi

I try the mod on a Powercolor x800Pro

    215RAACGA11F
    GA8999.1
    0414AA

I have seen the 16 pipes for 4-5 hours, but now i have only 12 yet. I think ATI-Tool has found by the first boot my 16 pipes, then i tried to install the x800xt driver, by the next boot i have only 12 pipes.

    WORKED
X800 Pro With VIVO, 1.6ns mem, bridge not blown so no need to connect.
    PowerColor
    GPU serial ???? never checked
    Method:
    1. Flash the Gigabyte bios with the utility in this file (bios and utility included). This will unlock your 16 pipelines but it seems to lower everyones max overclock. Gigabytes flash utility seems to be the only one that effects the pipelines.
    ( Use this command: GVF11 -P -F R80X256V.F1 )

    2. Next flash the X800 Pro Bios with Flashrom v2.37. This will give you your Original overclock back most likely. It worked for many and you still get 16 pipelines enabled. (Use this command: FLASHROM -P -F 0 (bios name))

    3. Finally, Flash the X800 XT Bios to make your card a full fledge X800XT.
(Use this command: FLASHROM -P -F 0 (bios name))

I don't see any correlation with the GPU code on the die.

However, my best guess, is still the same; a few X800XT being remarked and sold as as X800PRO. Basically, regardless of modding, you either have 12pipe core or 16pipe core with 4 disabled. If anyone finds a sure way to tell which is which please let us know =^0

the for sure way is to by a x800pro with vivo. So far all of them have had 1.6ns mem and the bridge is not blow. Just a simple bios flash and bam, you have an xt. Mines runing at 545/625 with stico cooling and no vmods.

Most of the info can be found in this thread

I have an BBA X800Pro(ATI) only with the XT memory and no cuts on the traces, also is video in only. Only 12 pipes with ATI tool.

    Can I just flash?

If yes which way do I do it?

    Thanks

try flashing... sounds promising. im pretty sure u've gotta shut down some sort of program that checks for vivo or ur computer will just shut off.

I tried the soft mod on my Sapphire X800 pro VIVO

    215RAACGA11F
    GA8995.1
    0416AA

After the mod, the ati tool shows that I have only 12 pipelines
But the card runs very stable on the new clocks (526/574).

    So the mod FAILED

mlter2002, you have the AA in the top code/serial, so you might have to the mod to the chip itself as well.

yeah, after I seached the internet I realised that.

but I don't have the courage to do that. Can I blow up the ati x800pro with the hardware mod??

I worked hard to earn that card.

But does anybody know a good walktrough for the hardware mod

    thx

there are many sets of instructions posted here on these forums.
Download the Gigabyte XT Bios, then flash it like this:
    gvf11 -p R80X256V_filename.F1

If it won't flash with -p you need to force it:
    gvf11 R80X256V_filename.F1 -f

    Done!
That's ALL you need to do.
    here is another

    If you don't want to install your card as a Gigabyte XT you might also backup your old bios and flash it over the Gigabyte bios;
this won't disable 16 pipes again, because flashrom doesn't overwrite everything.
    Here you go:

    Backup BIOS:
    flashrom -s 0backup.bin

    Gigabyte XT BIOS:
    gvf11 -p R80X256V_filename.F1
    or
    gvf11 R80X256V_filename.F1 -f

    Re-Flash your backup:
    flashrom -p 0 backup.bin
The Gigabyte XT Bios is required to unlock pipelines, and is the ONLY thing required (and only BIOS that can do this). Nothing else has to be done.

However, if you only flash Gigabyte bios, your card will be recognized as a Gigabyte, and max GPU/mem oc clocks are lower. So that is why you would flash back to your original BIOS, which doesn't affect enable pipeline number.

Unless you're a neurosurgeon (have very steady hand), or can afford to lose the card, do not hard mod it. (It's called "hard" because its "hard" to do and "hard" to fix if you screwup).

Make sure you tried the Gigabyte bios properly. It is unlikely that connecting the bridges will make a difference, since I have yet to see anybody establish correlation that it's what enabled the pipelines. Yes, a few people did it, and got 16 pipelines. But they also flashed the BIOS. So far >20 people have mod working with Gigabyte BIOS on X800PRO VIVO.. with few failures.

Point out that this thread was originally intended to be about the hardmod as the softmod wasn't known when this thread was started. I'd say the poll is fubar now.

    FAILURE

    BBA X800 Pro

    Stepping:
    215RAACGA11F
    GA9004.1
    0412AA

Method: Hardmodded with and w/o exposing the copper nodes. I used a thumbtack to drill down just over the 2 contact points. I did not dig a trench in between like some others did. Really hoping that filling the laser cut with non-conductive material and bridging over it was the key to getting it to work. Seemed the most likely reason why things might not be working for others and I know only a few people have tried it. Used superglue to cover it, then decided to melt some wax over it to make sure it it was filled. Used conductive paint from a defogger kit to bridge the gap.

Even though it was a failure, I did manage to get 16 pipes to temporarily show in ATITool. This was only when the drivers were uninstalled, which was totally useless. Anyway, here is a pic:

I remember OPP having the same problem and it would seem that the right bios/driver implementation might be able to enable those last 4. Personally, I've tried just about everything out there including force installing the X800XT drivers using the 4.6 beta CATS

I tried flashing using both the Gigabyte/utility and ATI X800XT bioses. Oddly enough, I was only getting 16 pipes with the ATI X800XT bios & the drivers uninstalled. It's possible I may not have thoroughly removed the drivers when I had the Gigabyte bios installed.

    go back to original

As I said earlier (post 14), I tried to flash my sapphire x800pro to xt.(http://paddy007uk.freeservers.com/VG...SH%20GUIDE.htm)

But that didn't work. I ran stable on the xt clocks (525/573).
The performance gain is minimal so now I want to go back to my original bios (backup I made). But after I flashed with my backup, I still have the xt clocks and the overdrive utility.
    How can I go back???

Do I have to use another flash utility (I used flashrom 2.37)?

    thx
