    POLL: X800PRO mod success/failure

Considering the great interest in this topic, I thought it would be nice to have official list of mods that worked/failed. From reading forums till my eyes almost bleed, I see that scraping, make of card, serial code, type of conductive material, flashing and drivers do not influence the mod (they are not required).

Post as follows so that we can get any trends (if any):
    FAILED/WORKED
    Name
    Link to Pics
    Model (Sapphire, PowerColor etc)
    GPU Serial
    Method used

I'm hoping that as people post their successes/failures, I can compile the list. Didn't just google the net because can't trust unknown sources, considering how easy it is to use Photoshop... this is list of XtremeSystems members who tried the mod. And I'm sure we'll all be comfortable in the confines of the honor system (Seinfeld, LOL)

I think somebody's BS'ing. Two people said they were successful but didn't post.

Tried 3 times with my BBA card, then just picked up the real thing. They're hard to find but not impossible.

I think those people who clicked that it worked were just BS...

To those who are considering the mod:

I'm sure if you scrape for long enough (through the card??), and sniff enough glue, that, in your disillusioned state the mod will be working, and pink unicorns will be singing that you are the best!

Ask the purple unicorn to fetch you the right one... puff the pink dragon knows where they are.

BTW: Anybody concerned that the mod is only bringing in 800-1000 3DM03 points? Shouldn't it be like 33% (4/12) more, considering that the benchmark is mostly GPU-limited?

X800 - MY recommendation: Wait till X800XT is available in your neighbourhood, and then get it for the extra $50-100 (over X800PRO), and you don't have to worry about modding/flashing/clocks... you're already set to go.

I hope I didn't offend anyone.. I though I was being funny with the unicorn stuff.... But, from my experience benching 3DMark03, people are seeing way below the expected results. Obviously I don't expect their results to be exactly 33% higher, but something else is clearly responsible for the perfomance boosts that some people who claim mod works are reporting:
    1. Overclocking (because of XT bios being applied)
    2. Cat4.6 drivers improve 3DMark03... few people I've seen used Aquamark to verify.
    3. Because it is the internet and you shouldn't trust everything that you hear... there will alway be somebody who thinks its "cool" to trick people by pretending to have a working softmod, show photoshoped pictures, and refer to obscure techie terms to confuse newbies into frying their cards... its the day and age we live in. (BTW: That softmod changes PCI DeviceID to X800Pro value. Changing it has no effect according to Wizzard who checked all sorts of cards, and has been working on softmod for weeks now).
