    screwing in the sp-97

I was wondering when you guys put on your thermalright heatsinks on the cpu with the paste on and whatever, how hard do you screw it in? Do you like have it totally down as far as it can go or justscrewed in fairly tight?

I go as far as it can possibly go, I havnt cracked a CPU core yet.

    Videocards are a different story, I have cracked 2 cores so far, a NV25 and a R350.

Its not damaging the core i'm worried about. I think having it too tight might squeze out all the thermal paste.

Thats a good thing, you want as little thermal paste as possible. All the paste does is fill in the microscopic gaps, its not supposed to act as the main heat transfer device, having the 2 surfaces as close as possible is much better than having a MM of paste between them.

I make sure to always take them off. I dont need anything getting in the way of my HS. Just make sure you tighten the screws evenly.
