JC and I tested it with my board (red box with the football) yesterday. It seems to perform better than the blue boxed boards, don't ask me why, it just does.
We managed to run the memory at 230-232 Mhz, 2-7-2-3, which is way better than his board can do. I find it strange that the red boxed boards can run at higher memory speeds than the blue ones and the new Max 2.
To bad we couldn't get the core run higher than JC could on tuesday, could have gained another 200-300 points with a bit of luck. Maybe next time
    Congrats JC.

    Thanks guys

like Jupiler says, it was a joint effort with his board, to see what difference a good vs a bad IT7 makes.

I picked up a red boxed IT7 myself last night after a long search to find one. An expensive one this was too but OK....

Came home, connected everything, it booted up nicely but with an old BIOS. So I figured all right lets flash this thing. Starting to flash.... the bugger freezes right in the middle

couldnt do anything then... just reset. it starts up now (boot block was protected apparently) but asking for floppy.
I made a BIOS rescue floppy, it starts to flash again... and then it tells me the BIOS is write protected ? WTF ???

Needless to say i'm not getting anywhere like this. Does anyone have a solution? I do have another IT7 here and I could just swap BIOS chips, but I dont really have a way to get the damn chip out of the board....

Anyway I have a few hundred more points in the pipe if this board works again AND if it overclocks as well as Jupiler's one

    Major

Thanks for the very generous offer, but I managed to sort it out. With something sharp I managed to carefully pry out the BIOS chip and replace it.

I'll let ABIT handle the other board which now has a bad BIOS...

I could have passed 20.2K ... but on my best run after finally things went wel... I locked up in the last second of Nature
Really the screen was almost white, maybe 1 sec left to go... and it locked. I think most of the european continent heard me swear over that one...

JC, the card will do 435/370 minimum without volt mod. With phase change and volt mod the thing should be a killer.

Kinda a toss up on the ram sinks, I put some on my first R9700 and had no increase in memory speed.
