    12v/5v Sense Mod

    Are there any 12v/5v Sense mods, i just did the 3.3v sense mod and it turned out great. I really hope there are some that someone can show me

    If you dont have sense wires on your 12V and 5V rails than you wont be able to repeat the 3.3V sense mod on them, else you should be able to do the same, not sure on the value of pot to use.

    yeah, i understand that but im not sure how to know which are the sense wires for those voltages if i do have them, how do i know?! lol

    Look at your 20pin connector...Opposite end of the 3.3v rail...

    Yellow for 12v, red for 5v (maybe the other way around)...

    The try to see if you got the extra "sense" wires & if you have, then it's a simple job.

    Same as the 3.3v mod. I used a 36ohm fixed & 10K VR for my 5v & 68ohm & 10K VR for my 12v rail.

    If needed, I can take a couple of pics to show you how I did mine.

    yeah thatd be great if you could post some pics, i see a small yellow and red wire.. small i guess those are sense, what psu do you have?

    I have both the Enermax 460w & Antec 550w TP PSU's...

    I could only do the 3.3v mod on my Enermax cos it don't have any other sense wires & I don't wanna try the mod for the 5v & 12v rails that is out there....

    With the 5v mod & 12v mod for ones that have the sense wires, you can read up on that mod at this thread:

    Which way have you done the 3.3v mod?? There's a new way to do the 3.3v mod & I don't wanna confuse you.

    Have a good read of the Antec 430w mod thread & you'll find some input in that thread by me.

    Basically, I snip the 3.3v, 5v, 12v sense wires near the actual PSU (not connector end) & then I solder a fixed resistor as well as a VR to that & a ground lead on the ATX connector (cut at same place).

    3.3v mod: 10 ohm fixed & 1K VR
    5v mod: 36 ohm fixed & 10K VR
    12v mod: 68 ohm fixed & 10K VR


    I have borrowed a pic from that thread (edited to show ground as ground, not positive)...

    Will upload some pics ASAP.

    I attached my VR/pots to the casing of my PSU. You can choose to do the mod closer to you ATX 20pin connector & then sticky tape them close but I prefer to stick them to my PSU...Antec 550w in my sig.

    Will be back with some pics of how VR are stuck...

    that pic kind of confuses me, what i did for the 3.3v mod was pc ice's mod, i put a 10k vr between sense and ground, and it worked awsome. i have an enermax EG465P-VE, is this the same psu you said doesnt have sense wires? i only want to do a sense mod or send to hellfire possibly to try a different mod for me.

    If it's the same model as mine, 460w (EG465P-VE??), then it gets complicated after the 3.3v mod.

    It involves desoldering an smd resistor/capacitor off the pcb of the PSU & then soldering a VR in it's place.

    Bear in mind that someone's killed his PSU whilst trying out that mod. Don't know if it's a user fault or not but I wouldn't do it until I hear from more ppl who have successfully done it.

    I think the way to do the mod is explained in that thread that pc ice started about the new 3.3v mod. Somewhere between pages 3-6 of that thread me thinks.

    Can't help you there I'm afraid...My PSU was/is 2 months old now & still breathing & I'd like it that way after blowing up 3 PSU's...

    I've done the mod for the enermax 460, and if you can take apart the PSU and put it back together you should be able to do the 12/5 volt mod. All you have to do is clip off one resistor ( i did it with small nail clippers) and wire and solder up the small nubs you have left to a 10k pot. Leave as much of the wire that is connected to the original resistor as possbile. Atleast check the guide out, it's really not that hard of a v-mod.

    As requested here's a link to one version of the volt mod. Enermax EG465AX-VE (W)FCA . Mine was that exact mod, though i've heard that if you have this same model AND YOU FIND "R 82" do the mod on that resistor. When you click on the pictures you get nice high quality images go from. When you test the mod take voltage readings with a jumper between the pin labled "PS_on" and a common ground. I remember the correct spot by looking at the "PS_on" pin location in respect to the clip on the plug. If you do a little hunting there are other mods out there for this PSU at that particular resister, but i'm not on my own computer and can't find those pages ATM.

    If you decide to do this mod, i can't tell you how important it is to leave as much of the wire possible on the resistor you are cutting. If you leave a good amount of wire the mod is cake, but if you don't leave enough it will be nearly impossible.

    just got done doing the 12v/5v mod, running 13v/5.4v do you guys think these are safe? the mod really wasnt that hard to do

    imo that's a touch high... i had mine at 12.8 and whatever the 5 volt that cooresponded to that.

    ok lol, i might put it down, but i wanted to see if it helped anyhting but it really didnt help much, not my vcore droop(i havbe droop mod done, but though tthis would keep it even more stable, which it didnt), and it really didnt help my video card much either.. what is 12v/5v mod supposed to help anyways

    hello there....anyone tried the mod on enermax EG651P-VE (FMA) 550W????
    the pcb is something different to the one on the guide....i see r82 resistor there....but no r73....but i thought maybe it was better to ask about it fisrt....

    yeah, mine had r82, just replace that with a 10k vr, leave as much of the wire like stasiu said and it willl be very easy, good luck to you =]
