What do you guys think of this Chiller Probe

If it cools 6-8F per 10 gallons below ambient temp, think a water cooling unit is only like a gallon so take that 6-8F and times 10. You get 60-80F below ambient temp. If your room temp is 80F that makes ur water temp roughly 0F/-18C. That should be right based upon theory. Just drill a gatorade bottle and stick chiller rod in. Kind of didnt know what forum to put this is cause the probe is chilled by a peltier plate. Its not that big at all either alot smaller than these pools I see sitting in some of your living rooms Tell me what you guys think I may get two of them.

thats just a tec with a hsf attached

LOL!!! Hell no I'm not getting 10 the whole point is to save space. I may just get one to see the cooling effects. Damn where is the mailman with my income tax check.

I just like the whole idea of really cold water, cause I want to get the CoolFX VGA cooler and run it into there. What do you guys think if I got this cooler and changed it to a 226W TEC plate?

I seriously doubt youd be getting -62c with just two of those things
Maybe with a R507 prommy....

You really are best off by just getting a waterblock with an integrated 226 watt TEC.

The problem with using a tec to cool water, or for that matter refrigerant, is lack of surface area for the heat transfer. They are too concentrated.

Just look at the massive amount of copper in a condenser or a chiller evaporator. That's what is needed for efficient heat transfer.

Now compare that to the tiny amount of surface area in a direct die evap or a water block.

Heat transfer rate in a DD block, or a water block, really sucks, because of the limited surface area. That's why the temperature of the CPU can't even come close to the temperature of the block.

Tecs have that same problem (limited surface area), else we could use them as first stages for cascades. That would REALLY rock.

you'll be lucky if you get any results at all. that probe won't be able to Keep up with the heat being delivered from CPU and GPU. Friend had one and It only brought down Temps 5F below ambient.

And I should add that it has that problem on both the hot side and the cold side, which makes it much worse.
