Question FSB gain after increasing NB cooling on IC7?

I would like to know if people have gotten more speed out of their IC7/-G motherboards after changing the NB cooling.

I'm thinking about lapping the stock heatsink (2nd revision) or go with a new one.

I'm not gonna put a pelt on it, but if someone has, I would like to here the results =)

I don't know about the IC7, but I usualy go to pelt cooling on most of my benching rigs. It seems to help in most cases.
I just tested a Asus P4C-800 and some OCZ mem. The NB heatsink was very hot, I could only get around 280 1:1 with my mem. After sticking on a MCW50T 80 watt pelt I got the mem doing 298 1:1. The back of the NB on the mobo was cooled down to about 2C.
Bottom line, good cooling doesn't hurt. Just lapping the stock sink won't do much, if anything at all though.

Thanks for the reply Opp! That's a nice increase!

I'll just ditch the lapping idea then. The mobo is going to run a 2.4C, which can go quite high and I would like to be able to run about 300FSB 24/7, but a pelt is to much trouble I think.
Maybe the MCX159 would be a nice idea.

The MCX159 works real good as far as decreaseing NB temps.
    It may very well help.

@ crotale I tried The Thermaltake tiger 1 + some giant lapped heatsinks on my abit ic7g and they have brought no difference, it might be because of me but i think only a vnorthbridge mod and super cooling would make a noticible difference.

EmineM it will help when you'll get temps near 0 Celsius!

ok, you know it wasn't the CPU, memory or something else?

    Here's the deal:
The NB cooling mod is necessary on the C'woods as the FSb Oc goes up... the P4C800 series automaticall increases the chipset voltage as the CPU voltage goes up, the IC7 does NOT, it needs the chipset voltage mod. The increased voltage to the chipset at high OC's (high CPU voltage) necessitates better NB cooling. When I ran my Prescott up to 4609mHz I had the NB cooled with Dry Ice. So cooling it WILL help (especially on P4C and or modded IC family) go for it!! And yes, for 24/7 gaming rig that Swiftech HS/F is awesome!

    Good input Charlie!

I'm looking into watercooling it now, and the vdd mod doesn't look all that hard to do. I'll report back when I'm finished =)

Yeah, the second pic was my Xabre200 OC contest benching. The top is my Prescott that went 4609mHz.
    I have a NEW IC7-G now and want to try one of them 2.4A's Pressie's with DI.... 18 x 260 = 4680, 1:1 @ 2-2-2-5 should be QUITE fast

NB cooling can't hurt. Charlie, how often do you have to replenish the dry ice supply? I think dry ice would make a very interesting project in the future...
