    chiller

Ok the other day I finally had a chance to get all the stuff I needed for all the different shops and set my chiller up. With the chilled water first I pump that into the maze4-1 with a 226w tec then into the maze4 gpu. I had a lot of trouble insulating gpu maze4, just that there is so much metal surface area on the back of the block for condensation to form. Once I had finished putting everything back together I only managed to play with the computer for 2hrs so could do limited testing.

After leaving the coolent for a day I only have to turn the air conditioner on for 20 mins to get the liquid from 15deg to 0deg with a big block of ice also forming, so once I get the correct liquid this chiller is going to rock, I hope.
I still need to cut some holes in the lid of the esky and some grooves in the side so that I can put the lid on the esky and seal the unit, i will do this when I get some more time.

Basically I have 20litres of coolant in an esky. The hydro L30 water pump is sitting on the bottom pumping the h20 out, with the return line dumping the h20 into the top of the esky. At 28 degs room temperature, It took 50mins to cool all of the h2o to 0 degs. The coolent im using isn’t antifreeze, so there is a large block of ice forming around the condenser. I need to get some better antifreeze coolant or method, any suggestions?

One solution you might want to try is the 80/20 Methanol/Prestone-Dexcool combination that many people have good results with.

is prestone-dexcool a inhibitor or coolant of some sort.
would i a achive a similar effect buy adding 80% methanol to my mix?

when I fist leak tested the system I had the blocks just sitting on the table, cpu block connected to nothing, and the gpu block connected to the graphics card. I then chilled the water and pumped it through the system with the peltier running as a heatload. The gpu block formed a puddle of condensation on the bench, wasn’t very happy. So next I attempted to insulate the block with what I had. Heres a pic

next I sealed the pcb with conformal coating (non corrosive)
finally I stuck the enclosed foam onto the block, two layers and rapped the hole thing in gray sticky tape. I had to cut some of the heat sink spikes off and a small section of the insulation (on the underside of Block where the tubing connects to the gpu.
) so I could mount the block to the video card correctly, this was a pain in the but.

the air conditioning unit that I used is cable of removing 1750w per hour and uses 660w of power. Heres a picture of what the air conditioner looked like before I stripped it down.

at stock speed the with 2deg h2o running and the 226 tec set to 9.23v idel is -13deg

i can run this this for like 3 to 4 hours before the water reaches room temperature then turn the air conditioner on for half an hour.

my current everyday usage o/c is 11x200 for an xp3200 and a vcore of 1.8v idle at -8deg's. i use as low as possible temperature on the tec because the difference between 13.5v and 9.23v is no difference really maybe 1 deg.

It is antifreeze that is red in color and both ethy lene glycol (EG) and propylene glycol (PG) are used as the antifreeze base.
