    mating waterblock with cpu/mobo...

    Hi guys,

I'm looking for a way to insulate the gap between my chilled waterblock and the mainboard. The insulation on the waterblock won't touch the mainboard, there's a gap of approx. 4mm (0.16") left. What do you guys use for this job? Would Mach II sealstring work maybe?

You can use a neoprene thing cut to go around the socket or use some easily molded pipewrap insulation.

    I would use seal-string to create a air-tight seal.

Seal string for sure, but hit up your local guys to buy it, Chip Con is kind of expensive...

There was a thread kicking around not long ago with alternate seal string sources

    /me brakes out search mode.....

    I solved the matter already.

Just cut up a sheet of neoprene to fit between the WB insulation and the mainboard. As I didn't want to glue it together, I got some acid-free vaselin. Works like a charm. Even so, thanx for the linkage Karnivore, that 3M stuff seems to rock. Might have to get some anyway 'just in case'.
