Scary to look at... the last time I looked at one of them naked T-Bred cores, it was an xp-2200 that smelled funny and had a strange burnt liquid looking stuff running out of the core.... I feel strange guys, is the "dark side" messin' with me?

Seems like steppings dont mean a whole lot on the mobiles. Makes sense - goes along with the cherry picked theory. Steppings are more important when your playing the averages. Here we're hoping the cherry you get is a good one. Although this is one cherry you dont want to pop.

Annoying that they seem to give out new chips and older chips at the same time... I'll be ordering one shortly so hope to get a good one. But let us know how it goes with the 0346, as it may not be bad anyway.

Make SURE to post your results...note what voltage it defaults to.

found this on the net at ambmb.com

can someone link the AMD website that explains these codes??

Yeah, false alarm... OCuK's turd CPU's were all FKT4C or 1.65v 90C chips.

    AQYHA stepping, currently 3dmark stable @ 1.85 @ 2624MHZ (238X11).

SP-97 w/enermax 92mm. Only one problem and maybe someone can shed some light.... My gaming performance is great and windows seems stable, however my bootup time is HORRIBLE now since i switched my chip from my throroughbred xp2600. I'm running at the same multi and FSB as before and everthing was smokin, windows booted up maaaad fast. Now, at faster MHZ, windows boots up much slower. Any ideas?

i only put one copper strand in the upper right up the socket as per someone else in the amdmb forums without putting the strands in the lower left of the socket for the voltage changes. I dont know what that means. My system booted @ 800MHZ so i guess the mod didnt do anything, however..... SOMEONE HELP. My performance is POO POO with 2600+MHZ!!!! It seems its "stuttering" and it does not make sense. Same FSB, multi, and MEM timings as the XP2600 tBred that was in here 2 hours ago, but windows performance is garbage... whats the deal?

If it doesn't work out, just do an O/S reinstall. That usually works,

Wow. This is a piece of cake compared to my Barton 2500+. Priming my 2600+ mobile right now. I HAVE THE SAME STEPPING ordered from newegg and arrived today. I did the L12 wire mod from HERE connecting to ah30 to ah28 before installing the CPU. What can I say. Effortless. Running prime stable at 200x12.5 @ 1.7Vcore. 49 deg C under load. I'll start to push it this evening and post back. A couple of items: first boot with L12 mod it booted @ 100x6. After loading fail safe settings in BIOS FSB showed 166 so I'm assuming the mod worked. Didn't set up a sig yet but here is the rest of my rig:

    2600+ XP-M
    Abit NF7-S rev 2 running bios d18
    Vantec Aeroflow
    2x 200GB WD SATA 8mb buffer HD
Thermaltake Xaser III Silent Purepower 480w PSU
    2x512 Kingston HyperX PC4000
    ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (128)
    Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum

    hmmm

B... it's possible windows is having a fit over the "mobile" athalon showing up in place of your TBred. You can always try to find an update to the "processor" driver.

mine says: version 5.1.2600.1152 and lists it as Unknown CPU type.

But WinXP is perfectly happy with mine and works as normal. You boot could be affected by Win looking for a better driver on boot every time, not finding one, timing out, and moving on.

It's in windows/system32/drivers as "amdK7.sys" as opposed to the MSoft default of "processor.sys"

The desktop bios's and win installs arent used to seein a mobile chip present.

It'll be interesting to see what happenes with a reinstall.... Ill be doing one myself ina few days. I still have minor corruption left over from last D10 bios test on SATA Raid0....hint: DONT combine the two ;-)

ureka uwackme you're onto something.... When i try to update the driver to the amdk7.sys file, it works, but then on Reboot it still runs crappy and says "unknown processor". What else can i do? How do i make the driver stick? Hmmm.....
