P4 OCing
Well I decided to try P4 OCing, as I've been an AMD man a while. Someone offered me a lot of money for XP1600+ and Epox 8K3A and it was enough to get me a 1.8a northwood and Abit BD7-II. Now I started overclocking tonight, and managed to get it to 2.4ghz right out of the box. I'm not familiar with P4 packdate things so this is what the heatspreader says:
Sl63X Costa Rica
320 2A053-0789.
Now my concern is memory scores. With a locked 18x, I managed 140FSB or 2.52ghz @1.6Vcore. With the 3:4 ratio, that would be 374mhz DDR right? I have XMS3200 C2, and would have liked to be able to push it far but is it not gonna happen with this CPU? Also can someone tell me if I got a good packdate and any general help or tips on OCing this thing I'm still a bit new to it.
Thanks in advance

Overclocking Guru
Sorry I can't help help you with Packing dates, I have no clue. You should be able to see what your memory is running with Wcpuid, your probably about right. As far as getting it overclocked higher it's just a matter of good cooling at this point. Your mem will take you as high as your CPU will allow.

Welll after some burning in I have it running stabely at 2.43ghz with 1.575V. I managed to get it that high with stock voltage but it would fail prime within an hour. Memory is at 180mhz 2-5-2-2 Enhance on @2.6v.
I'm quite pleased with that especially since I haven't been able to get my TEC on it (only have a Socket A Maze 2-1). Screenies and benchmarks will come soon hopefully

Here's my latest @DDR406:

I also have a SL63X 5/13/02 1.8a and I struggle to get it over 2.41... (I had it at 2451 the other day now it won't prime at 2451 or 2433 ;/)
This is with the default cooler and core at 1.775v (Which undervolts to 1.71-1.74)

Been at work for the past couple hours and have come up with:

I'd watch out with the 1.85vcore. A few days ago I could prime for hours at 2451mhz. The next day I go to my friends lan, and spend 5 or 6 hours playing with my overclocking, showing it off to my mate and seeing how high I can prime it. Anyways next day I go home and go back down to 1.775v (I usually run it at this, so it stays between 1.71v and 1.74v) and I can no longer prime at 2451, it just won't go 2451 anymore in prime.
I've learnt my lesson. But best of luck with your overclocks, I don't like being so negative.
Cheers,

This CPU or RAM just does not want to stop. CPU is reaching 50C+ at times and is becoming less stable, which I'm sure the Maze3 coming on wednesday will fix. At 2.86ghz, or DDR424 I had to lower timings to 2-7-3-3 which is why it's not too much better than the previous benchmark:

Not bad DDR424 still cas2 at only 2.7Vmem
I can tell the CPU can go further as it was about to load windows at 162FSB, 2.9ghz but CPU was too hot to be stable enough.
And BTW Vcore is not going above 1.8v. When it goes near 1.8 its for a short time too I want this thing to last!

Can you prime at that speed though?

AT 2.86ghz it failed prime within an hour unfortunately. I was able to run sandra burn-in for CPU and mem and it hadn't failed until I got tired of it and the temps were getting higher than my liking. I think when I watercool it, it should make a difference in stability.
