I've never understood this hatred of people who revive older threads. Its a thread just like any other thread. What's the difference? A discussion is a discussion, doesn't make any difference to me. There's a lot of really good threads that died simply because of inactivity that should be brought back. And often, people search for something then comment without realizing they replied to an old thread and its not something they did intentionally.

I'm starting to think people are taught from when they first start using forums that bringing back old threads is bad... simply because they're told that it is, without any really good reasons. Like how people in 3rd world countries don't have respect for women, simply because they grow up around people who think that way.... same thing with racism. I'm not really comparing this to racism or sexism, I'm just saying that people learn to think a certain way because of the environment in which they grow up. Also, most people are social creatures by nature so they like to fit into a group and adopt the characteristics of those groups in order to feel accepted and part of something larger, often adopting opinions of the group.

I've revived a few old topics in other forums simply because they were great topics that were still current that died because of inactivity that I really wanted to see get busy again... and what I got back was a huge irrational fallout of hatred and flaming, then I get attacked by mods. Its completely stupid. Sorry but that's my opinion. I think its irrational and totally baseless, unless the topic isn't current anymore, was causing a flaming war because no one was mature enough to handle it, or some other legitimate reason. You shouldn't just hate ANYONE who revives ANY old topic, it should be based on each individual circumstance.

There is nothing really wrong with it imo

The problem was the ones that do it just for post count so they can get FS access.

or just simple replies like... Hey I like that

Well most people act like they're going to castrate then crucify you if you do it at all, especially on other forums I've been to. I think the one I might be thinking of is Game Banshee... I think. I'm not entirely sure.

i'd have to agree, i've never understood the hatred of it when a thread still has some kind of possible positive outcome, or something positive that someone could take from it

But yeah, if people were doing that just to get a post count... that would bug me too.

    Anyway. Thread revivers.. UNITE!
