    I don't think 1600x1200 at 150Hz is possible...not even a Trinitron will do that....hell mine maxes at 60Hz at that resolution.

    1600 x 1200 at 85Hz might be the best you can do.

    check out the 19" Sonys and NECs. they're both really nice.

    Mine is a Sony 19" Trinitron....max @ 1600x1200 is 60Hz.

    If I try to run higher I get "out of scan range".

    yeah, i've got a Sony G400. i can do 1600x1200 @ 75Hz. the newer ones can supposedly do better. i haven't used the NEC/Mitsubishi units, but i'm pretty sure they can do 1600x1200 @ 85Hz.

    NEC/Mitsubishi FE2111sb

    22''

    Does 1600x1200 @ 85Hz

    Does 1280x1024 @ 100Hz

    Only $560.00 on newegg...

    My review is the Sean K. one...2nd from last.....

    Plain and simple...for the money, this monitor is better than anything you've ever owned.

    mine is a 22" iiyama visionmaster pro 514 (hm204dt)
    it can do 1600x1200@100Hz or 2048x1536@85Hz
    price was 570 euros

    but everything above 85Hz makes the picture slightly blurry
    desktop with 1600x1200 is still ok, but my sensitive eyes prefer 1280x960@85Hz

    i go with 1280x960@85Hz + 4xAA for gaming most of the time (radeon 9800pro)

    I am running 1600 x 1200 @ 85Hz (21'') and never had any desire to run higher refresh rate. I'd doubt that a higher rate would look any better to a naked eye.

    even an OCd 9800XT, which i have doesnt run ALL games at 1600x1200 as smooth as I'd like it, Halo still tends to drop frames to the 50s range every once in awhile, and thats just not acceptable by my standards.

    OK. First things first: do your homework. Dont just take ppl's word for it. Manufacturers list specs, look them up.

    You said initially that you want a 17" or 19", but I say don't skimp. You spend your ENTIRE time in front of the computer staring at this thing, get a good 21/22".

    My advice: go w/ a NEC/Mitsubishi (they're the same company now). NEC FP2141SB-BK or Mitsubishi 2070SB-BK. Exact same monitor, just diff brand name. I paid about $1000 CDN for mine, you guys do the math for your respective currency. The only nicer monitors are the stupid-high-end Sonys, and those run into the $2000-3000+ dollar range. I did my homework back when I bought mine, and I couldnt find anything nicer in that price range.

    Here's what mine can do:
    640 x 480 @ 50 to 160 Hz
    800 x 600 @ 50 to 160 Hz
    1024 x 768 @ 50 to 160 Hz
    1280 x 1024 @ 50 to 127 Hz
    1600 x 1200 @ 50 to 109 Hz <--optimum rez, 100Hz, my desktop
    1800 x 1350 @ 50 to 98 Hz
    1800 x 1440 @ 50 to 92 Hz
    1856 x 1392 @ 50 to 95 Hz
    1920 x 1440 @ 50 to 92 Hz <--for crazy desktop real estate, comfy 85Hz, text gets a little small tho
    2048 x 1536 @ 50 to 86 Hz <--nuckin futz

    I generally dont use anything above 16x12, since text gets too small on the desktop, and gaming that high is just useless.

    Its got dual VGA inputs, and Super Bright. Basically, that makes movies and games much brighter, but webpages and MS word will hurt your eyes. It exists for a very good reason tho: if you calibrate your monitor properly, most movies look way too dark, you cant see nothin. The superbright fixes that, plus helps dark games, and just looks sweet. What else... oh its black.

    Best thing I ever bought for my computer (well, prolly tied w/ my Klipsch).

    How can you run 1600x1200 on your desktop...that is way too small for me.

    I run 1152x864 or 1280x960 max, 100Hz or 85Hz.

    Mine is 19" though not 21".

    1280x1024 is the ticket for me, right at 85hz. I swear, any lower refresh rate than 85 and i get a headache anyone else have this problem? i can see 75hz refreshing, and that hurts my eyes and brain....

    Soulburner: on a 19" 1280 is optimal rez. Past that, txt is just too fargin small.

    17" == 1024*768
    19" == 1280*1024
    21" == 1600*1200

    Wolv: while shopping, first thing to check is the rez and refresh rate capabilites. Thats a good first indication of the quality. Then, once you've found a few that do the refresh rates you want, check things like dot pitch. Many aperture grill monitors of this size will list like .22 AG in the center but they're only .25 or .27 at the edges. That means, in general, that it'll look like poo. Make sure its dot pitch is constant across the whole screen.
