    **sighs**

i got it workin get this :banana::banana::banana::banana:. anything over 180 fsb i have 2 shut it down by hand and turn it back on and then it will boot up.. still no 1/6 tho.. my 9700 still wont work, i looked and it was 1 made in china but im waitin on an e-mail 2 RMA it..

so far i made it to 210-215 fsb(dont remember exactly) with agressive setting and i tried a little bit more and it smoked my reg files..that 1/6 sure would b nice rite now..

btw the onboard sound is pretty good

I've talked to some people in the motherboard manufacturing trade and it seems that most manufacturers have trouble getting the KT400 chipset to support DDR400.

That could be why the 1/6 divider doesn't work.

    Further info on the KT400.

Looks like VIA screwed up again with the CD stepping and it does not support DDR400. The CE stepping will be available end of this month(KT400A?).

If this is right DDTUNG then you will have a lot of angry KT400 motherboard owners that have rushed out and bought the board.

Well I could cancel my order right now, but I am too curious and want to see for myself. I'll probably end of RMA'ing it for credit, right after I test it. But, why would they include a 1/6 in the bios if it doesn't work at any settings? It would just serve to piss people off and make them think the board was broken.

Just got me an AT7-Max2 to play with today, so will get it hooked up at the shop tomorrow nd see what I can squeeze out of the bugger... not sure of revision as I haven't even opened the box and looked at it yet...

Some of you guys may want to try getting in touch with Paul Howland.... he used to right the FAQ's for all ABIT Mobos but since the fall of viahardware.com I haven't dealt with him much...
(head for the newsgroups... alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.abit i think)

He usually has a lot of beta bios' or self-written bios' that improve on Abits' own tenfold... he'll also probably be able to point out all the flaws with the board while he's at it...

I read somewhere yesterday that Paul had sworn off overclocking or something crazy like that.

Marci, can you confirm the 1/6 divider option at 200 and the choices of voltages on the board? Thanks.

    Abit AT7 MAX2 (KT400) Motherboard

    Twiggy.
It doesn't cover the RAD 9700@8xAGP.
    It's the main issue,but still.

well im in process on sendind the kd7 back. not sure if im gonna get anything. i think i mite just hold off a bit until this 9700 thing gets fixed. so im back to the kx7.

Privateer, i was able to hit 215 fsb with maxed timings anything over would corrupt the hd. that 1/6 would of been great...

    I had a AT7 mAX2 for testing today

Man did that board suck !! Must be something faulty with it.
Above 165 The 5 devider had to be used
    6 divider didn't work
Max fsb using any timings was 170

Not going to be my next board
Lets hope KD7-Raid won't have those problems

Im considdering to by a new KR7A-RAID, my old one did 202mhz fsb max timings 1T without a problem

Al those new ones seem to choke at anything near 200mhz

    Entuscan,

I had the same problmes like you were having with the AT7 Max2. The bios (AD) which comes with the mobo is bloody buggy. Upgrade the bios to the beta and I can assure you that you will have plenty of fun with 200+FSB if your memory can with hold that speed.

    here you go

    Fast Command Decode Selection :

Be sure to set as below

FSB@100,133 , set fast command decode to fast
FSB@166 or above , set fast command decode to normal

    Ps :

    Jumper CROM1 set to 1-2 + Fast option in bios@AT7 Max2
    (KT400) = Ultra option in bios@AT7(KT333)

    Jumper CROM1 set to 1-2 + Normal optionin bios@AT7 Max2
    (KT400) = Fast option in bios@AT7(KT333)

    Jumper CROMS1 set to 2-3@AT7 Max2(KT400) = Normal
    option in bios@AT7(KT333)

    2 . 1/6 divider is removed in new bios , AT7 Max2 Clock Gen
does support 1/6 PCI Divider , however VIA has confirmed
that KT400 does not support 1/6 PCI divider even the clock
gen can support 1/6 PCI divider , this is the chipset limitation
and can not be solved by motherboard maker

3 . Use the new beta bios below to improve the overclocking
ability above 180 MHz and support up to 22X multiplier
if the L1 is not cut

the beta bios also fix that system easily hang@166fsb
when enhance DRAM performance in bios setting is set
    to enable
