    a/c or fridge

Im pretty confused on what to do.....I want to build a chiller but im not 100% sure on what to use between a a/c and minifridge. I want to use the thing thatll be the easiest to use and/or get best performance from. Below are my choices

    a/c--- link to ac

    fridge--- link to fridge

Well I would be hestitant about the minifridge as it does not appear to be cooled by a phase change system but rather an oversized TEC; even if it was a phase change system in there it would most likely not be of a sufficient capacity to cool your system. The air conditioner might do ok for cooling your system to something around 0 degree celcius (just a guess) but then again I would think that the capacity is somewhat lacking and hardly efficient for what you want to do. Personally I would suggest that you go to your local dump or appliance salvage shop and get yourself an old chest freezer or perhaps a large dehumidifier. Best of luck.

That minifrige has a 1/12 hp compressor the ac has a 1/2 hp rotary compressor, The rotary compressors don't like to run in a vacume and the minifrige is too small...

So they are both a bad thing? or are you saying the rotary compressor is a good thing?

That A/C will make a very good chiller. Check out the chiller A/C thread in the sticky's.

Read the entire thread before you begin.

Several have done this and it works very well.

there is heaps, you must get the quokka there, have a look in the free section if short for cash, (i totally forgot about this section, i bought one for $130)
i had a look the other day and there were several fridges/freezers and one air con unit for free fist in best dressed.
