    Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000

    Introduction

The smartphone accessories market is a crowded one, yet some names stand out among the crowd. Sandberg is an example, and it has perfectly cornered the charging market. With powerful wireless chargers and power banks to choose from, let’s check out the best of both worlds. This is our Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000 review. Wireless chargers are nothing new and have been around for a while. However, what is pretty new is MagSafe wireless chargers. MagSafe chargers are wireless chargers that can magnetically attach to a phone. The iPhone 12 and onward have MagSafe built into them, and if you want to use MagSafe chargers as an Android phone user, then you have to install a magnet to the back of your phone. Sandberg’s covers the full range of power banks, but today we’re looking at a 10,000mAh option. The Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000 packs a USB-A port and a USB-C port, but the key selling point is its Qi charging pad. It tops out at 20W wired charging through the USB-C port, while the pad is capable of up to 15W output. MagSafe-compatible iPhones will charge at 15W, while most Android phones will charge at 10W. You can also charge a watch and wireless earbuds cases with the charger. Watches can charge at 3W, and earbud cases can charge at 5W.

    Specifications

    Packaging & Contents

The Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000 comes in a pretty standard black and blue box that Sandberg uses for pretty much all their products. Simple and recognizable, with all the information you need about the product here.

On the sides we have more images and illustrations on how the Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000 can be used and on the back we have detailed information in 24 languages.

Sandberg keeps things pretty light inside the packaging, with minimal paperwork to worry about. Inside the box we just have the Wireless Powerbank, a USB-C cable and a quick guide.

The included USB-C cable is just 30 cm long, the perfect length for a power bank. It’s long enough to give you some flexibility, yet short enough that it won’t get caught on stray corners in your house.

    A Closer Look

The entire charging bank is plastic, though it features a soft rubber ring to keep your phone in place on the charging pad. It’s great that this power bank is so compact because you can place your phone on the pad and still easily hold this power bank in the palm of your hands as you still use and charge your phone. The charging pad is at the top of the power bank, and it’s pretty huge. You can’t miss it. It has a length of 10cm, a width of 6.5, and a thickness of 2.4 cm. The weight of the power bank is 228gr. To begin wireless charging on the power bank, you have to press the power button at the right side.

There are three ways to charge from this Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000 power bank. You can use the wireless charging pad, the USB-C Power Delivery port, or the USB-A Quick Charge port. The wireless charging can output up to 15W, but it covers the 5W, 7.5W, and 10W speeds. The 10,000mAh capacity consists of two 5,000mAh batteries that are connected in series.

A smart little LCD display at the back shows battery status.

A sliding stand can hold the screen in portrait or landscape mode for comfortable viewing. For best results, use only iPhone-compatible magnetic phone cases. Magnetic and metal attachments or cards will cause a weak magnetic attraction.

    Performance

To use the wireless option, simply press the button on the side of the charger and place your device on the sign and it will immediately start charging. The Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000 mounts onto the back of the iPhone 13 Pro very firmly, with a loud snap as the magnets pull each other, and its hold gets even more secure with the official Apple MagSafe clear case. This allows you to use the device while charging, if you are fine with the heat output. Considering this power bank features wireless charging, it does get warm. Even though wireless charging is the focal point of this power bank, it’s essential to know that wireless charging will be slower than wired charging. So if you want to charge your phone faster, you should opt to use the ports, especially the USB-C Power Delivery port. That’s because the USB-C port has a 20W charging that can fast charge your Phone. the Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000 can provide 15W Qi wireless charging to compatible devices like the OnePlus 9 Pro and OPPO Find X3 Pro. However, not every device that supports 15W wireless charging and above has support for 15W Qi wireless charging, so you can double check that here. And yeah, those devices won’t take advantage of the magnetic feature on the Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000, which means you can opt for cheaper wireless chargers. The good news is that you can charge your phone through the power bank while it recharges, which should keep an extra outlet free. Magnetic and metal attachments such as cards, keys, and pop grips will interfere with charging.

Now one thing that you will usually encounter with wireless charger is slower charging speeds. The Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000 recharged the iPhone 13 Pro, with it going from 11% to 45% in 30 minutes. This versus wired fast charging which got my phone from 11% to 70% in the same amount of time. USB-C and USB-A charging are a lot efficient, obviously, and I saw speeds upwards of 15W on a not-so-empty battery. I’m sure they’d reach 18-20W on an empty battery, but I didn’t dare let my phone die to test that. Recharging itself only takes 2.6 hours.

    Final Thoughts

This Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank has a 10,000mAh power capacity, and this is perfect for charging most phones to full power at least once. In the past, we would have said this is enough power to charge phones two times, but modern phones have larger batteries. Power capacity from the power bank is also lost during charging because of the heat generated during conversion, but overall, getting a single full charge for your phone is good enough with this Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000. Also, you will likely have excess power capacity that you can use later, just not enough for another full charge. With a maximum input and output of 20W, the power bank charges iPhone 13 3 times faster than a regular 5W charger. Recharging itself only takes 2.6 hours. It can juices up your phone while recharging itself so you're always connected wherever you go. The build quality of the power bank is strong, and there were no faults that we could find. It is made of plastic, so be careful about dropping it onto hard flooring because there’s a chance that it will break like this, and most power banks are not shockproof. The strong magnetic connection holds your phone securely. Just snap the charger onto the back of your phone to seamlessly power up your device. The battery status indicator is located at the bottom of the portable charger. On the back of the battery is a kickstand design, which is handy when propping up your during the dining room table when you are showing some photos to your family. And since it’s an array of circular magnets, you can set the phone in portrait or landscape.

Overall, the Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000 is capable of decent charging speeds. I like the fact I can just plonk my phone on top without having to faff around with cables. The Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000 won’t win any specs wars, but that’s not the goal of this battery. Convenience is. At a retail price of €53.99 at press time, the Sandberg Mag Wireless Powerbank 10000 is a reasonably priced. Of course it comes with a 5-year warranty for peace of mind.
