Introduction

Fortunately, some brands tell you with their mouse prices that even if you need a good gaming mouse, you don’t have to spend too much. The Redragon is easily one example of this. You can notice in some mice provided by them, that presents a surprising relation between price and performance. And for today’s review, we decided to choose one of its gaming mice with the best prices you can find on the market, the Redragon M721 PRO Lonewolf 2. Follow below the Redragon M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 Review in order to know whether this is the best option for you or not.

Perfectly compatible with Windows 2000/ME/XP/03/VISTA/7/8/10 as well as Mac OS.

Packaging & Contents

Redragon usually has a simple and frustration-free unboxing experience. Hence, the M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 is no exception to this as unboxing it is quite a simple affair. The front of the box has picture of the mouse itself, and a few standout features printed towards the left side of that picture.

The backside of the box lists all of the specifications in several different languages.

The manual walks you through all of the preset settings and tells you how to connect your mouse via wireless and wired. For the RGB and DPI customization, they send you to their website to download the software.

Redragon never fails to throw in a sticker when they ship out keyboards and mice. The stickers are always fun to receive. This sticker has the Redragon logo on it.

A Closer Look

As a Redragon label, this mouse is entirely in black. The M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 has a matte coating on top and non-coated textured ABS plastic on the sides. It's quite grippy, but does attract fingerprints, dirt, or the likes quite a bit. Some signs of wear may still be visible even after cleaning. All in all, a good coating. The M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 in many ways has a typical right-handed ergonomic shape, but there are some key differences. For starters, although the left side is raised, it's not raised as much as on many other ergonomic designs.

The sides aren't only curved inward, but downward as well.

The hump is centered, but only moderately pronounced. Lastly, the main buttons feature rather deep comfort grooves. Overall, it's a design that handles well in practice.

As for grip styles, I'd say the M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 can be used just fine in all three main grip styles—palm grip, claw grip, and fingertip grip. It's a large-sized mouse with a moderately pronounced hump, which should make it suitable for most hand sizes.

Also, Redragon did a good job with the RGB lights of this mouse, being two parallel RGB lines across the mouse as also on the Redragon Logo and on the scroll.

These RGB lines fit perfectly the robust design of this mouse, creating a good perspective.

Build quality is rock solid, when there’s no flex or creak in any part of the mouse. The scroll wheel is solidly in place with no wobbling. I have no concerns with the build quality of the mouse.

At the top of the mouse are two buttons for cycling up and down through the set CPI levels and a button for cycling through the lighting modes. Their click feel is decent.

The 6ft cable with gold-plated USB connector on the M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 is medium weave braided cable, and it’s quite good and flexible.

You’ll find a standard pair of side buttons on the left side of the mouse. Below them is a third vertical button and rubber texture for easy location with your thumb.

The feet on the M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 are standard black-dyed PTFE (Teflon) feet. Glide is perfectly fine.

The M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 uses a Pixart PMW 3335 sensor. It is located right in the center, so it is balanced perfectly. Think of the 3335 as a low powered alternative to the 3360 sensors. There’s little to no noticeable difference between the two. The M721 Pro Lonewolf 2 comes with a magnet weight tuning set(9.4g) so that you can change the weight of the device within a matter of a few seconds.

Software

Redragon has a software out for this mouse where you’ll be able to change the different settings of the mouse and you’ll also be able to set up the different macros of the mouse in the software as well. You’ll have to go to the official Redragon website for the software download. The software is a very nice part of this mouse and it is kind of rare to see a nice dedicated software to go with a mouse at this cheap price point, Redragon is doing great things. Basically, you’re going to want to download the software, it is optional but if you want the most out of your mouse then you’ll have to get the software some how some way!

There are 10 programmable buttons equipped with macro functions on this gaming mouse. This allows quick access to specific gaming actions without a series of complex keystrokes. The rapid-fire button gives you the edge you need during those intensive FPS battles.

The DPI on the sensor goes as low as 1000 to a max of 16000 DPI in 100 step increments. The levels of each DPI setting could be corrected in the program, so shifting the DPI down or up can create fine-tuned alterations, or even more important measures. DPI can be adjusted freely by ±100 from 100 to 32,000.

The Redragon M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 sports 7 LED modes with control over brightness and speed. The modes are:

Breathing
Rainbow
Full Lighted
Wave
Go without trace
Reactive
Flash
Off

The M721 Pro Lonewolf2 has 16.8 million RGB LED color options available and the LED backlight can even be disabled if you’d prefer. With this many choices, you should be able to find your perfect color choice without issue.

Performance

The main buttons are responsive and actuate perfectly. Pre-travel is low and post-travel is very low, which results in a firm and satisfying click feel. Button stiffness is light. The click on the side buttons is a little mushy with a good amount of pre-travel, given that this is a budget mouse, I don’t expect the best side button clicks and these are serviceable. I had no issues with the cable getting in the way of gaming.

Overall, tracking and precision with this mouse are excellent. The PTFE feet at the bottom are also smooth as butter and glide easily on the mousepad. This mouse flexes its muscles when you have to hold your shots perfectly. That becomes quickly apparent in a game like Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and even in Apex Legends. You have to hold your shots right on the opponent, and one-shotting isn’t common in either of those games. Holding shots is great with this mouse. If you’re the type who plays faster-paced games, flicks and one-taps also feel right on point. You can flick and fire fast shots easily with this mouse. It’s a great performer in most FPS games. No matter what game you throw at it, this thing is going to keep up tremendously well.

Final Thoughts

The Redragon M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 is a decent FPS gaming mouse. It feels well-built and is quite lightweight. It has an ambidextrous shape suitable for medium to large-sized hands using a palm or claw grip and a fingertip grip for all but small hands. Keep in mind if you're coming from a different mouse, this mouse may be slightly larger than you expect, but you'll realize that your hand will sit more comfortably on the mouse for longer periods of time. The mouse buttons are very responsive and bounce back snugly after each click. On paper, the Redragon M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 looks really good: The PAW3335 is PixArt's optical sensor for wired applications, so one would expect nothing less than good performance. The ability to switch the DPI level with a press of a button on the mouse or more finely control it with the companion app is really good, you can go from 1k DPI to 16k DPI with the mouse button, however with the companion app you can bring it all the way up to 32k DPI that's a nice wide range to find your perfect comfort level. The mouse is very easy to get into with a total of 10 customization buttons that have their own presets when you get first begin using the mouse, and all the presets are very handy. Being able to adjust the color lighting on this mouse like it was a keyboard is really fun and something I'll enjoy playing around with to adjust to my mood for the day.

The Redragon M721 PRO Lonewolf 2 can compete with most gaming mice out there. Especially if we consider the price at $34.99. It does everything you want it to. The buttons feel great, the feet are smooth, and the cable is one of the better ones we’ve seen in a while. It also holds up in performance, which is all that matters at the end of the day. It has some great features for its price and is definitely worth picking up if you have that little bit of room in your budget. All Redragon products purchased from the official store come with a 2-year warranty.
