All of them. their stock coolers have been bad other than a couple odd balls with the x800/1800/19x0. The blowers were bad and the triple fan on the 7 was bad.

I like the idea of pushing the hot air out of the case. The 3090 looks nice for that with being giant and blowing half the air out and some up near the ram where there is normally no flow.

Last few cards I bought were HD 5870. three of them
I had a twin fan 1GB from gigabyte than one fan would stop for not reason till a bios update on the card fixed it. It has terrible paste on it
The other two blower cards 2GB had terrible paste them both and fan curves or lack their of.

look what's changed since they The moment the HD 5870 hit 95C it was unacceptable.
now you cards that hit 15-12C lower and it's acceptable for noise/Performance Ratio.
the TDP's have climb you have fan stop now too.

I think the big changes with cooling were that people no longer care about actual 2 slot cards, everything needs 3 or 4 now, companies stopped with shrouds that covered up all of the fins so air could not escape, and we have good heat pipes now.with stamped fins on everything. Not to mention that the PCB are so much better now that you have to cool the VRM so you cannot get away with extruded crap.

The way cards boost now and OC them selves I think helps too since if you could run the same clock/power 5c cooler you get to move to another clock bin up and that shows in reviews.

As AMD get better they won't be the cheaper option but it's not like that's a surprise.

Is there any hope that the new 5900x will work with my crosshair VI?

generally speaking the more changes the less electrically tuned the board is for the newer glass. Will it work? maybe? will it work optimally? probably not.

Will it matter as much since the IO die is the same and the voltage range should also be the same since it is on the same 7nm process?

I dont think AMD is allowing any x370 to go 5x series, and those generally cannot do the amps for the newer chips. Most x370 had major issues with 2 CCD 3k series parts.

It's more to do with trace layouts for memory and such. since r1 there has been rather significant changes. I suspect even newer refresh x570 boards may have a hair more potential than pre existing as they will probably be tuned first and foremost to the latest glass.

While the memory wall is probably going to be the same etc linked and fabric limits the changes may be seen in less voltage required and or tighter timings maybe slightly better scores. There only so much you can do with bios.

Looks like I am out this round even though I have access to a board. PR says sampling is tight but I am in doubt.

    Have look at this

    https://linustechtips.com/topic/6247...mment-14172795

poster claims he got it off e-bay maybe your better off trying e-bay lol

I'm more interested in Threadripper because I've heard the 5950x seems to be a bit memory bandwidth limited.

If you run 3800mhz Fclock in 1:1 there should not be a memory issues with the 5950x, the 3950x has no issues and single CCX per CCD should help. TR seems to have worse issues due to the slower IO die. Hopefully they fix that since epyc is supposed to have a big IO die update.

I cannot wait for benches, and for CES when they show the new platform.

For overclocking and forum posts it is. They are going where they get the most exposure. content creators/gamers/streamers/influencers etc etc.

I am content creation and additive manufacturing not just an overclocker that builds cryogenic cooling for every CPU made for the past two decades.

That's not what i'm referring to charles. creative content alone is not enough. It's how you display your creative content. Take this thread for example. 7321 views.

Now look at this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLZUDfT4iPs 1.2million views.

For PR the math is simple.

You adapt or get left in the dust.

Even I have no where near the support I used to and if I did not have a long standing history with AMD i'd get squat but even thats not enough as we will be doing some content videos.

That action figure should get you a set to set to test smart access memory on top of whatever the normal cost is.

I was going to say Xtremesystems needs a youtube account much to my surprise there is one. Youtube will only put your videos out in to recommend, if you monetize it. Now it won't ever be in recommended any other way. Those "Influencers" are making money off their videos. The way youtube is going with amount of ad's they wedge into videos while your watching. I hope they die. I also hope Facebook dies too
I'm annoyed at all this "social media" it's "Virtual networking" really and it's getting to easy to influence people with it. If anything the only reason "Linus of Linus Tech Tips" got big was when I posted his video on here about I believe was Phenom II. He got exposure when this forum was doing very well. I'm never going to get any credit/money for something like that either. Then I see the forum crashed not once but twice. A lot of data that was here and my post's don't got that far back anymore.
